#Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion SPF 40/PA++

I very rarely review sunscreens. You know why? Because I hate sunscreen. I mean, I love it due to the fact that it protects me from skin cancer and all that jazz... but I hate most sunscreens on a more personal level. They're either too greasy, too drying, break me out, irritate my skin, or just plain don't offer good enough coverage. My solution? Wear a hat. And of course keep searching for something that I love.

I'm a fan of most Klairs products, but how did this one fare?

Dear, Klairs is a brand that focuses on sensitive skin types with a wide range of products that cover basically any step in a skincare routine. This sunscreen contains guaiazulene, a component of chamomile oil, that gives it a light blue color while calming redness and irritation.

Where would this fit in a routine?
Sunscreen goes at the end of a morning routine, and should be reapplied every few hours throughout the day when you'll be exposed to sunlight. A full routine will look something like this:

Oil cleanser > Cleanser > Toner > Vitamin C > BHA > AHA > Prescription Treatment > Hydrating Toner > First essence > Essence > Serum > Ampoule > Sheet mask > Eye Treatment > Emulsion/Lotion > Cream > Spot Treatment > Sleeping Pack or Sunscreen

How do I use it?
I apply a nickel sized glob to my face, then apply more to my ears and neck as needed. I pat the sunscreen into my skin after applying it, to help ensure that I don't rub the sunscreen away.

My Skin Type:
To get an idea of how this product might work for you, it may be helpful to know what my skin is like when reading my thoughts about the performance of this product. My skin is combination (normal/oily), dehydrated, and acne prone. I have minimal fine lines (mostly under my eyes), hyper-pigmentation from acne scarring and sun damage, and am sensitive to alcohol.

Packaging:
This sunscreen comes housed in an opaque plastic tube that holds 50mL of product. The tube is crimped at one end along with the expiration date of the sunscreen, and the other end has a twist-off cap with a nozzle underneath for easy dispensing and safe travel.

Product detail:
The sunscreen has a heavy lavendar and floral scent to it that I personally find overbearing, but it does thankfully wear down after a while. It has a faint blue tint to it, as I mentioned earlier, which I find pretty.

The texture of the sunscreen is creamy, and it feels like it's easy to apply. It does leave an awful white-cast though. And despite the creamy texture, it never fully absorbs into my skin.

My Thoughts:
I tested this sunscreen out several times over different seasons, and my results have been consistent. Whether my skin is oily or dry, the sunscreen doesn't fully absorb and leaves a kind of film on top of my skin. Even without visible dry patches, this sunscreen manages to find skin to cling to and emphasize. While it does a great job at protecting from the suns' harmful rays, I feel so uncomfortable wearing it in public that I can't continue to use it.

Would I repurchase?

No.
