For the month of October, Venus received a bag of Zignature Kangaroo Limited Ingredient Grain Free Dog Food from Chewy.
This item is a press sample, received in exchange for an honest review.
Venus eats a varied diet of both store bought and home cooked foods, and I personally believe the key to making all that work is not only a balanced variety of foods to round out her intake of vitamins and minerals.
Venus loves variety in her diet, and has never really shown an adverse effect to frequent changes in her food. In fact, she more often turns up her nose at her bowl if I give her the same food for too long. In turn, I serve a very wide rotation of foods with all different types of proteins and ingredients to keep her happy and interested in her meals.
You can imagine my excitement when I, as someone who rotates through so many different protein combinations in dog food, noticed an offering from Chewy this month containing a protein we've never tried! In all honesty, I've never seen kangaroo offered in a dog food before, period.
Zignature currently offers 11 different flavors of dry dog food on Chewy's website, plus those same 11 flavors in a wet formula as well.
All 22 varieties are limited ingredient and grain-free, to ensure your pet is getting a healthy food without common allergens (including corn, wheat, soy, dairy, and chicken) that can irritate their delicate systems.
Venus is a 20 pound chihuahua mix, so I scooped her roughly one cup of food per day after taking into account extra calories for treats she receives each day.
The kibble pieces are a bit bigger than she is used to, as I usually purchase small breed food for her, but it wasn't overly large and something she could still chew easily.
The food itself has a very plain but earthy smell - it's not bad but it is definitely different from more common dog foods I've purchased. Venus took her time investigating her new food as well - while she usually gobbles everything down, she took a good amount of time sniffing and licking several different pieces before actually eating one.
In the end, however, she did enjoy the Zignature Kangaroo Dog Food! Thank you Chewy!
