In case you're new here and didn't already know, Venus and I are part of the Chewy Influencer program, which means each month Venus gets to try something new that Chewy has to offer in their online store. Chewy.com has a wide variety of pet food ranging from wet to dry to raw to freeze dried, as well as treats, toys, and other pet supplies for cats, dogs, and more!
For the month of September, Venus received a bag of Crave Grain-Free High-Protein Dog Food with Lamb & Venison from Chewy.
This item is a press sample, received in exchange for an honest review.
Venus eats a varied diet of both store bought and home cooked foods, and I personally believe the key to making all that work is not only a balanced variety of foods to round out her intake of vitamins and minerals.
Venus is probably the pickiest dog on the planet. I guess I shouldn't say that she's picky, but she's very conditioned to variety. She does not get an upset stomach from frequent changes in food, as most of the books I read when she was a puppy would have me believe, but instead turns up her nose at her bowl if I give her the same food too often. In turn, I serve a very wide rotation of foods with all different types of proteins and ingredients to keep her happy and interested in her meals. I was very excited to see a food option for her this month that was both grain free (due to her allergies) and wasn't beef or chicken. Lamb is one of her favorite proteins (ranking only under rabbit) and venison is one that she hasn't tried often, so this I couldn't wait for her to try!
There are two other varieties available on Chewy as well; Salmon & Ocean Fish and Chicken.
As I mentioned above, this food is both grain-free and high in protein. I love seeing real meal as the first ingredient, and even more when meat is 3 of the first 5 ingredients!
The food is small in size, which is perfect for smaller dogs like Venus (about 20 pounds).
As I predicted, Venus absolutely loved this food. She eats it happily and she jumps a little with excitement when I fill her bowl with it. I think I see the Salmon & Ocean Fish on the future menu for her....
Thank you, Chewy!
