It's been over a year since I've shared one of these posts. During 2014 our pet expenses were basically taken up by blog review items, which doesn't exactly give a realistic idea of how much owning a dog really costs, but our only out of pocket expenses last year were Ocean's medical bills and her cremation. These expenses are important as well, but I took a long break from blogging during this time to spend as much time and devote as much care as possible to our sweet baby girl, so these expenses were not documented for you all. However, I am happy to announce that I am now going to start these posts again! March is the first month we've spent money on Venus for the year of 2015.
Food: $42; I purchased a 5lb bag of Orijen Adult Dog Food and a 16oz bag of Orijen Regional Red Freeze Dried Dog Food. This is a reduced price because I signed up for auto-delivery from Chewy.com - I saved roughly $10, which was totally worth it!
Treats: $0

2013 Pet Expenses
I started posting this monthly run-down in August, so I didn't get monthly break downs during this whole year, but I had decided to go through online accounts to find what I spent for the entire year of 2013 for our two chihuahua's. I know this won't include everything, there are places I pay cash at and have a hard time keeping track of receipts, but this will include the bulk of what I spent for the year.
*Please note that my costs will not include much for food. I use coupons and hunt for specials on food online. I rotate our dogs food continually and also supplement with raw bones and home-cooked meals for them, so there is minimal actual dog food expense for us.*

Total Year-End Cost for Two Chihuahua's is $230!
I can't wait until next year when I can keep closer track on everything and provide a more detailed (and accurate since we missed the beginning of the year) total.

November Pet Expenses
I've forgotten the past month or two to make this post! This is our families expenses for our two chis for the month of November 2013.
Food: $11; This wasn't needed, but I bought a bag of Stella & Chewy's freeze dried lamb for Venus.
Treats: $0; Would you believe we really had so many treats backed up that we didn't have to buy any this month?!?
Toys: $5; Venus got a cute little purple monkey. It's been a while since she's gotten a new toy, and this one lasted all of ten minutes.
Vet: $0
Other: $34; BarkBox and a new harness for Venus (more on our counterfeit Puppia later...)
Our November total for two chihuahua's was $50. More than usual, but none of it was actually needed lol.

August Dog Expenses
Can you believe it's September already? I sure can't... But with school starting, I guess it's too hard to deny now! Of course with a new month starting, that means it's time to share this months expenses for Venus and Ocean. You may have noticed last month I called it our pet expenses, but our Facebook followers have seen that we recently added a fish tank to our home, so I've renamed this the "dog expense" post. I'm not really sure I want to point out to myself how much has been spent on this tank already....
Food: $20 -I really didn't need to buy food, but I came across a deal to buy 12 (13oz) cans of Ziwipeak Venison for $20 (including shipping) so I just couldn't pass it up! That was more than 50% savings!
Vet/Medical: $0 -No mishaps this month, no check-ups, and didn't need to buy any preventatives.
Treats & Toys: $0 -We received our BarkBox and Pawalla boxes this month, but they were paid for in July so there were no expenses this month. Pawalla closed down, and I'm holding off on BarkBox for another week until I can purchase a 6 month subscription.
Gear: $0
Misc.: $0
Total dog expenses this month: $20.

July Pet Expenses

Vet/Medical: $0
Treats & Toys: $30 - $13 for an August Pawalla box, the rest were random toys and treats
