Day 5: Alterations to "The Plan"

Yesterday, I read Kim's post from the challenge, who happens to be the organizer of the Flats and Handwashing Challenge from Dirty Diaper Laundry, and added a few new steps and ideas to my handwashing and drying plan. Tips I started using taken from Kim's blog and who gave her the ideas:
"@thegnomesmom tweeted about reusing her baby’s bath water to rinse her diapers!"
- I started using bath water to rinse out the dirty diapers after I soaked them in the bucket. We don't pay for our water, but that's still no reason to waste it!
"Use skirt hangers. Use clothespins on a hanger."
- We don't have skirt hangers, but I started folding the flats in half over empty hangers instead of layering them over the shower curtain rod.
"The Eco Chic says maybe try vinegar in your rinse cycle."
- Ditto. With all the worries I've had about rinsing clean and sanitizing, this one should have been a no brainer. Thanks Kim, for posting all the awesome tips you found! Here's her link to all the tips she found useful: Flats and Handwashing Challenge Day 4

*A special "thank you" to Diaper Junction for the donation of flats used for this challenge*

  1. Hey I use two hangers for each diaper instead of just one so that they are spread out a little more. It seems to help them dry faster.

  2. Thanks for the tip applesinnamon! I'll keep that in mind, but right now we just don't have that many extra hangers :)
