Countdown to the Flats and Handwashing Challenge

In just 5 days, I'll be setting aside our pockets, fitteds, aios and prefolds for just our flats. The Flats and Handwashing Challenge has already started to become a real eye-opener for our family. Had we not been provided with generous donations of used diapers before and after Gabe was born, we would not be able to diaper him how we are now. Bug gets a horrible rash from disposables, so even though we wanted to use cloth anyway, it quickly became our only option. After we lost our home, and moved into this apartment, I weighed handwashing our diapers against the horrible cost of the laundromat many times. Until now I've still been able to pull through and be able to use the washers, but I'm actually excited to be handwashing flats for a whole week, and prove to myself, and others in our situation, that it can be done. We've decided our "arsenal" will consist of
1- one dozen flats donated by Diaper Junction
2- one Snappi purchased by me
3- one set of pins bought ffs off an online forum
4- our 5 covers: 2 Econobum covers (a gift before Bug was born) and 3 Thirsties Duo size one covers purchased from Cloth Cycle

I will be washing in our bathtub. While this is not ideal for me, especially since we're also battling staph infection right now, we do not own a bucket, or a plunger of any kind, so this is our only option, and I know it will work just fine. I will be using Rockin Green soap, that was not purchased, but won in a giveaway.

As we prepare over the next few days, I ask you to check in often for updates.
