I've been toying around with k-beauty for so long (it seems, but really it has only been about 2 years) that I sometimes forget what it was like when I first stuck my toes into the water. So this post is a bit of a step back, to look at the things I thought helped me the most when I first started looking into the world of Asian beauty, and might just be helpful to you as well.

Directions: After cleansing and toning, place the mask onto the face and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. After the allotted time, remove the mask and dispose properly. Pat the remaining essence to allow better absorption.
My Skin: oily, dehydrated, acne-prone, hormonal cystic acne, sensitive to alcohol, mild anti-aging concerns.
Performance: The Tosowoong Pure Deep Sea Water Mask has a fresh perfume-like scent that is fairly prominent at first but disappears a few minutes after application. The essence is soaked into the mask, and doesn't drip, but there is enough for me to rub into my neck right after I apply it to my face. The mask fits my face very well, with slits on either side of the chin area to get a more custom fit. This mask lasted about 30 minutes before it started to dry out, which is faster than some of the other Tosowoong masks. This mask was not irritating, but it was not soothing either. It was just... wet.
As you can see from my moisture meter readings below, the mask boosted my skins' moisture content by roughly 20% from the point where the mask had been removed for 5 minutes, but that increase dropped to almost pre-mask levels by the time an hour had passed.
Verdict: This mask does have a stronger scent than I prefer, but it's one that I can tolerate in exchange for a good masking experience. The hydration boost is great, but not long-lasting. There is not soothing or brightening effect from this mask either. Unfortunately this experience was a bust, and I won't be repurchasing the Tosowoong Pure Deep Sea Water Mask.

Performance: First of all, I want to point out the scent of this mask ~ it's been a long time since I used a mask that I could barely keep on my face because the scent was so strong, and the other Tosowoong masks I've tried so far really have been pleasant, but this... this was offensive... This mask smells like a decorative soap - you know the ones, that fake floral soapy smell. Yeah... Ick. Aside from the smell, the amount of essence in the mask is perfect ~ very wet but not dripping. The mask fits my face very well (like the other Tosowoong masks) and the mask lasted about 45 minutes before I had to take it off. The scent did disappear after a while, but I was stuck with a headache the remainder of the evening.
Verdict: This mask was lightly hydrating ~ I was able to follow with a thin layer of cream afterwards but I definitely couldn't have stopped my routine after this mask like I sometimes can with others. This mask was also brightening - which was surprising since this is an anti-wrinkle mask. My face did feel only slightly firmer afterwards, but because of the scent this is not a mask I will be repurchasing.

Have you ever just used a product and didn't realize how much you enjoyed it's company 'til it was gone? That was how I felt with this mask. It's fun to use, offers a bit of benefit to the skin, but I just never thought to review it here on the blog. So now that I've used it up, I'd like to share with you why I kept using it and managed to finish off the whole product.
This product was a gift, though I had purchased several before this one.
Description: This bubble clay mask is both a deep-cleansing makeup remover and pore cleanser in one! With its special formulation of charcoal powder, it deeply penetrates the pores to thoroughly get rid of deep-seated dirt while supplying proper nutrients to keep the skin healthy and supple. It not only cleanses, refines and tightens pores but it also helps control excessive sebum which usually causes the pores to be clogged. -Memebox
Directions: Scoop a proper amount of the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask and spread evenly on dry, uncleansed face. Wait for 5 minutes until bubbles start to appear then gently massage it all over the face to melt down dirt. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Performance: The Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask is like a gelatinous clay mask, that bubbles up when it comes into contact with your skin. I find it easy to spread out with my fingers, after taking a scoop out of the tub with the included spatula. It immediately starts to bubble up and tickles the skin ~ careful not to get it too close to your nostrils, or it might make you sneeze! The directions say to wait five minutes, but I usually wait 10~15, until the bubbles start to pop, then I massage it away with warm water. When washing it away, you'll notice how soapy it is - this is a reminder to be careful how much you apply, because it will take a long time to wash all the thick suds away. This mask has a lower pH of about 6, which makes it nice for those interested in using lower pH products to maintain and protect their skins' natural moisture barrier.

Verdict: Overall, this is a really fun mask to use. I love how it bubbles up and I love how soft it makes my skin feel - it also doesn't make my pores appear to be much cleaner. However, I do find it drying - so this is a nice summer mask, for when my skin is very oily, but it's not so great in the winter when my skin is more on the dry side. I will continue to repurchase it for summer-time use though!

Performance: I love the natural unbleached cotton these Pureness 100 masks have - they're soft and fit great. Unlike other types of TonyMoly masks, these don't have much of a scent - it's very light and disappears quickly. The essence didn't feel especially cooling or anything, but the mask itself did feel very soothing after some targeted chemical exfoliation on my dreaded cystic acne.
My face was more calm after removal, and felt plump and hydrated. The real miserable with this mask was that the following morning my cysts were less than half the size as the night before, and no longer painful!
Verdict: This definitely seems like a mask to use to help with acne - I'm glad I have one more in my stash!
