Skin Care Routine: Morning Moisturizers & BB Creams

Welcome to Part 3 of my Skin Care Routine!

As you may recall from part 2, I don't use serums in the morning, but I make up for it by always using a moisturizer or bb cream.

My go-to moisturizer is Philosophy Clear Days Ahead. This moisturizer is oil-free, contains salicylic acid, and mattifys my face. This is perfect to use under any foundation, especially my holy grail: BareMinerals BareSkin Brightening Serum Foundation. For heavier foundations I mix Philosophy with a Smashbox primer (like the pictured Blemish Control primer).

On days that I don't have time or the need to apply foundation, I go to a bb cream. My favorites are:

• Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream: Offers a great amount of sun protection for summer-time wear. I love how nicely the formula blends into my skin.
• BRTC Blemish Recover Balm: I love this bb cream for face-demon days. It smells like witch hazel and tea tree oil, controls oil like nobody's business, and magically helps clear up my face while wearing it. 
• Urban Decay Naked Skin bb cream: Offers no coverage, but uses light to blur imperfections on your face. I love this stuff for everyday, but it's my go-to on blemish-free days when I just need to tone down redness and acne scarring.

Skin Care Routine: Morning Toners & Serums

Welcome to Part 2 of my Skin Care Routine!

In the morning, I always use some sort of toner or liquid to wipe down my face after washing. I know some will argue that toning is an unnecessary step in skin-care, but I find that it picks up any soap residue left behind, and makes up for the fact that (wait for it....) I don't use any serums in my morning skincare routine! 

Yes, it's true. I've tested out several different serums, and while I love them for night care, I find that they leave my face too moist for the day. In the mornings, I go straight from toning to moisturizer or bb cream, depending on the population of face demons for the day. 

Most days I will simply swipe a cotton pad of Mizon AHA & BHA toner over my face and call it good. But some days, my face really needs the extra help between pimples and blackheads, so I'll use Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid and go from there.

Skin Care Routine: Morning Face Wash

Welcome to part 1 of my skin care routine series!

Every day starts with the obvious, which is washing my face. I have a few different cleansers that I keep out for morning washing. My go-to is the Loiele Vita Juicy Foam Cleanser that smells like candy, foams nicely, and makes my skin pretty much perfect for the day. It cleanses away oils and bacteria that accumulated overnight, it balances out the moisture in my face, and makes it feel smooth and refreshed. I have a Skin Food tea tree foaming cleanser that I use when I'm experiencing more break-outs than usual, and I also have a Vitamin Cleansing Dessert coconut & cacao extract foaming cleanser that I use at least once a week just for something new (mostly because it smells like chocolate) that I received from Memebox.

The Tosowoong cleanser is one of many that I received from Memebox and will be trying out as these three cleansers empty. Tosowoong is a brand that I have enjoyed through several different products so I am excited to try these cleansers out!

I sometimes use a facial sponge to help with washing my face, or a wool bristle face brush to help wash my face in the morning, but most of the time I use my Foreo. The Foreo uses sonic vibrations to cleanse the skin. I personally prefer my Clarisonic, but since the Clarisnoic is rougher on the skin I never use it in the morning, but instead every evening to help remove makeup.
