Let's take a step back in time, shall we? One of my first beauty cravings was to change the color of my hair. As a teen, I felt my hair color was extremely dull with little shine or life to it. I started off small when my parents put their foot down to me dying my hair when I was 16, and started spraying it with lemon juice and heating it up with a blow-dryer to lighten it. My parents suddenly realized they had lost the battle. When I was 17, I would stay at friends houses and use demi-permanent hair colors that washed out after a couple weeks. At 18 I had moved on to permanents. It's been over 10 years since I've had move than a half inch of my natural hair color showing, but my tastes for a more "grown-up" coloring experience has heightened. Gone are my days of bleaching to achieve colors of the rainbow, or my signature "gothic" black look. I am a sure-fire sucker for reds with hints of purple, and
Madison Reed knew exactly what to offer me.
Madison Reed offers ammonia free at-home hair coloring kits with nourishing argon oil, that deliver beautiful salon-quality results. I took advantage of their online
Color-Adviser to help me choose a color that would work best with how my hair currently looked. I chose the color Trieste Red #5NRM. I found the process to be very easy to follow. I followed the illustrated directions easy to understand, and the formula itself was thick but easy to apply. Surprisingly, there was almost no smell at all to the hair color itself. This was a huge deal for me! I've never used a hair dye that didn't stink, especially one that didn't smell horrible, this won me over immediately! The formula washed out easily, and the color enhancing shampoo and conditioner set working amazingly! Below are some photos of the kit I received, and some before and after photos of my hair.
