In the past we've tried feeding our dog, Venus, a raw diet, but it honestly became overwhelming and expensive (meat is not cheap in our area, even scraps from the butcher) fast. I cook meals for Venus when I can, but due to some health issues between myself and my husband, we've been relying heavily on store-bought dry foods more than anything lately.
The items in this post were sent to me in exchange for sharing my honest thoughts.
For 30 days we'll be trying out The Honest Kitchen, which is pre-packaged dehydrated raw food including not only meat but healthy fruits and vegetables as well. Some varieties also include grains in the mixture, but we chose a grain-free variety due to Venus' allergies.
Preparation seems simple enough so far - just measuring out a scoop of the dehydrated mixture, and adding it to a measured out amount of warm water. After letting it sit for a couple minutes to rehydrate, I stir it up and feed it to Venus. For reference, she weighs about 20 pounds and is fairly sedentary in her old age.
We've been feeding The Honest Kitchen: Limited Ingredient Grain Free Turkey Recipe for about a week now, and so far so good! I'll check in again in another week to let you all know how it's going!
