Welcome!
In case you're new here and didn't already know, Venus, Mittens, and myself are part of the Chewy Influencer program, which means each month Venus gets to try something new that Chewy has to offer in their online store. Chewy.com has a wide variety of pet food ranging from wet to dry to raw to freeze dried, as well as treats, toys, and other pet supplies for cats, dogs, and more! Our family was recently given the opportunity to try some new cat food for Mittens; the Fancy Feast Gourmet Naturals dry food. Of the varieties available, we received the White Meat Chicken in a 3.4lb bag.
Please note that this item is a press sample, received in exchange for an honest review. This does not in any way influence my opinion of this product, but something I want to mention just so my readers are aware.
I've mentioned previously that Mittens is a barn cat that we had let in the house over the winter when it was too cold for her to be outdoors. She enjoys being spoiled but also enjoys hunting mice in the barn on occasion, and of course keeps them out of the house as well. She seems to prefer dry food over wet food when she's not finding her own meals, so I try to give her a rotation of variety so she's not getting bored or lacking anything in her diet.
I'll admit that I generally try to avoid corn, or any filler grains, in pet food. However, Mittens at least does not have an allergy to these grains as Venus does, so it's not an issue when she does eat them. And she spends enough time running around and playing that I don't worry about excessive weight gain with her either.
I really appreciate the small kibble size of this food. I purchased other brands in the past that have been so big she cries instead of eats.
I also appreciate that the first ingredient is chicken. Even with grains included in the mix, I know she's still getting a good meal when she's eating indoors. Mittens is a large cat, and gets about a cup of food a day - though she does not usually eat a full cup, we need make sure she can't see the bottom of her bowl while she's eating! (I'm pretty much laughing and crying at the same time over this - she's such a drama queen.)
Overall this has been one of the most favorite foods I've ever given Mittens. She gets excited when I fill her bowl and doesn't toss bits onto the floor in disgust. Which says a lot!
A big thank you to Chewy.com for sending us this great new food to try out this past month!
