Orijen Freeze-Dried Dog Treats | Chewy.com

For the month of March, Chewy.com sent Venus a bag of Orijen "Brome Lake Duck" freeze-dried treats to try, and share the results with you all. Below you will find a product description provided by the company, as well as our experience with the product and my honest opinion of it.

Made with a single meat ingredient, Orijen Singles provide a simple and pure way to reward and nourish your dog with natural tastes he will love. Made from cage-free duck raised on natural grains and well water in Ontario, Cananda, these unique treats are loaded with goodness and natural flavor. They're gently freeze-dried to keep your cherished dog healthy, happy and strong, and are made without cooking or preservatives so you can feel good about treating him!
Key Benefits:
*Single-source treats
*Made from 100% meat and nothing else!
*Freeze-dried to lock in flavor and nutrition
*Guaranteed analysis to mirror mother nature
*Low calorie and carbohydrate free
*Approximately 55 treats per 2-oz bag and 95 treats per 3.5-oz bag

Ingredients: Duck liver, boneless duck

These treats are perfectly sized for Venus, and the softer freeze-dried texture make them easy for her to chew. She doesn't have trouble chewing, she just doesn't like the effort harder treats require to chew up! There are two ingredients in these treats and that makes these treats a real winner on my end as well. I really appreciate brands like Orijen who take the time and passion to create such quality and healthy products for our pets.

March Beauty Empties

If you follow me on Instagram you've been seeing my empties as I use them, but what were my thoughts on these products? Would I repurchase them? Find out in this monthly collaboration of all my empties!

1. Benton Snail Bee Essence: This is an often raved about product, and Benton is well-known for using more natural ingredients. This essence uses snail mucin and bee venom to comprise a majority of this essence in place of water, so you know you're getting the most of the ingredients. Unfortunately I didn't notice anything amazing from this. I liked it, but I like a different snail product more.

2. Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner: This is a holy grail item for me. This is my second bottle of this, and while the third I purchased was contaminated, I did recently purchase a fourth that is fine. This toner is soothing, slightly hydrating, and very calming for my skin.

3. True Skincare Anti-Aging Eye Gel: This was a review item for my other blog and it was ok. It wasn't a favorite of mine, but it was decent enough for me to use the whole bottle. I won't repurchase because I get eye creams for review pretty regularly.

4. TonyMoly Intense Care Dual Effect Sleeping Pack: I don't know if I had an old sample or what the case was here, but this pack actually dried out my skin and left it feeling just plain gross. I even developed a small breakout after using it. Sadness...

5. LJH Vita Propolis Ampoule: This ampoule was thick and sticky, but felt pretty nice when applied to my skin. Unfortunately it didn't seem to absorb well, so it's not something I'd try again.

6. Benefit They're Real Mascara: This is an incredible mascara formula with a torture device for a wand. If other mascaras had this type of staying power I don't think I'd still be searching for "the perfect" mascara - but since this wand stabs my eyes each time I use it, and I don't get any "wow" effects when I use it, I won't repurchase this.

7. Loreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara: This mascara has a funky wand and a sweet rose scent to it. The formula is pretty nice, but I wish it was waterproof. I may repurchase the waterproof version in the future, but I'll probably try others first since the butterfly wand made this a tedious to apply.

8. Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara: This was an awesome mascara. I fell in love with the volume and length it delivered, but was deeply disappointed at how badly it smeared onto my undereye area after just a couple hours.

9. Free Your Mane Reviving Spray: This was a great "resetting" spray for my hair when it was longer. It would release any product or kinks after spraying and brushing, without the hassle of washing when you're short on time. I would repurchase if I ever needed something like this again.

10. OZ Naturals Professional Correcting Serum: I received this to review on my other blog and continued to use it because of it's 2.5% retinol content. Unfortunately I didn't notice any drastic effects from this product and will continue to look for a retinol product that works better.

11. Opti-Free Pure Moist Contact Solution: I love this solution for rinsing my contact lenses. My eyes have been super dry since I had my son and contacts are like sandpaper for my eyeballs. This helps out a lot and lets me tolerate my contacts for a couple hours longer than usual.

12. Banilla Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm: This is a super soft and creamy cleansing balm that I really enjoyed. I might repurchase it in the future, but right now I'm really loving my SUM37 cleansing balm ^_^

13. Mizon Hydra-Full Solution Water Volume Aqua Gel Cream: I expected this to be more like a gel for some reason, but it was a light cream. It absorbed into my skin immediately but didn't leave any moisture with it. Disappointing.

14. Eve Lom Cleanser with Muslin Cloth: This is an oily balm cleanser that is supposed to exfoliate while removing dirt, oil, makeup, and impurities from your skin. I thought it smelled awful and the exfoliating beads were like wax. It left my face feeling like I rubbed it with fried chicken soaked in patchouli. I would not repurchase this product if it were the last cleanser on earth.

15. Too Cool For School Pumpkin Sleeping Pack: The cute little pumpkin on this package totally made the product for me. I have no complaints about this pack, but it just didn't provide much of anything. No noticeable moisture or other type of effect, pretty average in my opinion.

16. GlamGlow YouthMud Mask: This was a sad empty for me. This mask is great for deep exfoliation and rejuvenation of the skin. It brightened my face and smoothed out fine lines - but it's so expensive! I will repurchase it, but I don't know when yet.

17. Nexcare So Natural Mouthwash: This is a basic no-alcohol mouthwash. It did it's job well.

18. W.Lab 3P+ CO2 Carbonic Pore Pack: This is a great mask for clearing out pores and removing dead skin cells from the skin. I found it to be more gentle than my previously holy grail 23YearsOld Air Laynic Pore Pack, and it's become a favorite of mine.

19. First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser: This is a great cleanser that takes third place behind my Philosophy Purity and GlamGlow SuperCleanse. If I needed to I would definitely purchase this.

20. Philosophy Microdelivery Peel: This is a 2-step microdermabrasion type peel, and I loved it! The first step is a citrus scented scrub that you gently apply to your face and it feels so nice. The second step is an activating gel that allows the scrub to foam up slightly and warm up as it melts away dead skin cells. This is towards the top of my must-buy list right now.

21. Nude Skincare Cleansing Jelly: I thought this would be a nice cleansing balm, and it was, but it was a bit more oily than I'm used to. I might consider purchasing the full size when my SUM37 is gone and if I need something sooner than I can buy the Banilla Co, but this isn't the best cleansing balm-type product I've tried.

22. GlamGlow ThirstyCleanse: This smells like coconut! I think it was fairly hydrating, and it made my face feel nice and smooth too, but I am in love with the smell and must have the full size as soon as my budget allows for it.

23. First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (same as earlier)

24. Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner: I purchased this because I thought I needed an acid toner after washing my face to lower the ph of my skin quicker. I loved this at first because it brightened and gently exfoliated my skin, but after a couple weeks of regular use it almost became too harsh for me. I did like this product, but I probably won't repurchase it.

25. SecretKey Secret Perfume Peeling Body Scrub: This was a Memebox product that I really liked. I love the peeling gels vs harsh exfoliants, and this was great on my whole body. It had a nice light scent that I enjoyed too. I would consider repurchasing this, but I was told that the Lemon D-toc by SecretKey is even better!

26. LadyKin Vanpir Dark Repairing Water Mask: This is a sleeping pack I received in a Memebox and while I wasn't sure about it at first, towards the end of the jar I noticed how smooth and bright it made my skin look in the morning. It has a musky scent, but I was able to look past it when I started seeing such amazing results. I'm on the search for another one of these right now.

27. TonyMoly Red Appletox Honey Cream: This is a sticky gel moisturizer that has the consistency of honey but smells like sweet fresh apples. I found it to be super hydrating - to the point where I had to wipe some off if I used too much because it wouldn't absorb into my skin. This was a nice product with super cute packaging, but I don't know if I'd repurchase it.

Your dogs dental health plays a very large role in their body's overall health, that's why it's so important to take care of your dogs teeth daily. March 2015 Pet Expenses

It's been over a year since I've shared one of these posts. During 2014 our pet expenses were basically taken up by blog review items, which doesn't exactly give a realistic idea of how much owning a dog really costs, but our only out of pocket expenses last year were Ocean's medical bills and her cremation. These expenses are important as well, but I took a long break from blogging during this time to spend as much time and devote as much care as possible to our sweet baby girl, so these expenses were not documented for you all. However, I am happy to announce that I am now going to start these posts again! March is the first month we've spent money on Venus for the year of 2015.

Food: $42; I purchased a 5lb bag of Orijen Adult Dog Food and a 16oz bag of Orijen Regional Red Freeze Dried Dog Food. This is a reduced price because I signed up for auto-delivery from Chewy.com - I saved roughly $10, which was totally worth it!

Treats: $0

Toys: $0

Vet: $0

Other: $0

Total March Dog Expenses: $42

I Got My K-Beauty Fix at KCutie! Product Review & Giveaway!

Korean beauty trends are becoming more popular all over the world, and while some of us are already in love with the amazing results received from unique and innovative ingredients or the uber cute packaging - others may be wondering what the heck we're so excited about. I personally am super excited to tell you all - k-beauty lovers of old and new - about a new shop shipping to the United States and Canada called "KCutie."

From their "About" page:
Out of a true passion (and addiction) to Korean and asian beauty products, we bring you an alternative for those times when you need a true KBeauty fix! At KCutie.com we are committed to providing our buyers with the best Korean beauty brands and products, straight from Korea. We only sell authentic products, purchased directly from brand companies. If you have any comments, suggestions or requests, we want to read them! You can fill the form under the "Contact" tab on the navigation menu. Thank you!
KCutie ships products from the US and from Korea, and each product in their store mentions where it ships from. Their prices are competitive, and they charge actual shipping costs (not a hiked-up estimate). KCutie sent me a few products that they carry to try out, and I am so excited to share them with you! The following products all ship from the US.

Premium Collection Donkey Milk Moisturizing Bath Tablets

Cleopatra, the Queen of Ancient Egypt, known for her stunning beauty, took her daily baths in Asses' milk. As a legend says, more than 500 donkeys were required for this. Donkey milk baths are very effective in moisturizing the skin. Can be used on dry or damaged skin. After just a few days' use, the results will amaze you!
These tablets smell like sweet cream, and fizz up when tossed into the bathtub. Not only are they fun to watch and smell, but they leave your skin as smooth as butter. This product is amazing and I don't think I will ever take another bath in my life without them. These come in a bag of 20 tablets and I use 3 per bath, so this will last a while considering I most often take showers.

Vita Bomb Illumination Ampoule

Whitening & Anti-Aging: This ampoule uses camellia sinensis leaf water instead of water and contains 20% of hippophae rhamnoides fruit extract with high vitamin C and E. It also has ten types of vitamins.
How to Use: After toner, apply appropriate amount to skin until absorbed. Follow with moisturizer or sleeping pack.
This ampoule has a nice composition of ingredients. There are a couple low-risk irritants and potentially comedogenic ingredients, but as easily as I break out, I experienced no trouble with this ampoule and found it really improved my skin texture and tone.
You can view the cosdna analysis of this products' ingredients here.
This ampoule very much reminded me of a gentle vitamin c serum. While it contains vitamins C, E, B3, A, H, B2, B5, B6, B9 & B12 - it smells of citrus and has a light orange tint to it. After using this ampoule after washing and toning my face - morning and night - for a few weeks now, I've noticed that it has lightened most of my sun spots and acne scarring. It has the consistency of water, absorbs quickly into the skin, and doesn't leave any type of stickiness on my skin. It really is the perfect vitamin c serum for routine care and protection.

Shara Shara Time Capture Lifting Serum

High nutrition skin care system: For vibrant healthy skin with highly concentrated Kerurosu tea extract.
Multi-care: for your skin EGF peptide component to help strengthen the skin. Brightening care Helps achieve brightening of dull skin.
Water capture system: Complete, light, skin moisturizing system filled with water to penetrate skin smoothly without weight and stickiness.
How to Use: After washing your face, prepare the skin texture with toner, take an appropriate amount, apply until absorbed.
The ingredients list of this lifting serum is very impressive. There are no known irritants are comedogenic ingredients in this product, which make it perfect for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
You can view the cosdna analysis of this products' ingredients here.
This serum has a light gel consistency straight out of the pump, but it spreads onto the skin very easily and absorbs very quickly. This serum does not give much in terms of moisturization, but it really does give a lifting effect to my skin. I do not use this serum on my entire face, but on the areas that I worry about or currently experience slight sagging or wrinkles - like my forehead, my cheeks, and my neck. This serum has smoothed out my fine lines on my forehead, has seemingly made my cheeks less "flabby," and has greatly diminished my harsh deep wrinkles on my neck (I call these deep wrinkles my neck creases, they are still noticeable, but to me they are noticeably reduced).
This is a must-have item for me now.

DayDream Allday Effector Ampoule with Yam

Ultra light texture & deep, waterful moisturizing. 4 free system.
I was unable to find an English translation of this product, but having a slightly sensitive and very acne-prone face, I can say that I did not have any type of reaction or break-out related to this product while using it.
This ampoule is very thick and sticky. Not uncomfortable, but this is a thick and almost heavy ampoule. It provides a lot of moisture that does last all day. With my oily skin it is enough of a daytime moisturizer for me. I like to use this ampoule at night since I don't have a good night cream. I apply this ampoule after all my other serums, and after roughly 10 minutes for absorption (and your face may still feel tacky after that), I massage in a moisturizer and my face feels plump and hydrated in the morning.
This is an excellent moisturizing product for all skin types.

PureSmile Choosy Lip Mask - Gorgeous Series

Pure Smile Choosy Lip Patch contains Vitamin E Collagen & Hayluronic Acid. Use it for 5 - 30 mins greatly reduces fine lines and leaves your lip moisturized. Your lip is pumped with moisture just after 1 use.
This mask comes in a little plastic sheet so it doesn't bunch up in the packaging and is easier to take out and apply to your lips.
As you can see, the mask has a shiny pearlescent purple tint to it, and covers a large area outside of my lips, which I honestly don't mind, because - hey - more moisturization, right?
This is an After photo (because apparently I was too excited to use this mask to take a Before photo - oops!) and as you can see, my lips plumped up nicely after using this mask. My lips were very soft and felt smooth. I have very dry lips that peel often, so to have such amazing softness from just 30 minutes of wearing a mask was truly amazing.

There are five different colors of in mask series (there are five more in their regular series as well). I tried out the "Purple Pearl" gel lip mask. You take the gel mask out of the packaging and apply it to your lips for 5-30 minutes.
These masks are packed with hyaluronic acid to boost elasticity and radiance, collagen to help retain moisture, and vitamin E to condition the skin. These masks also contain peach extract, honey, pomegranate, ceramide, and jojoba oil.
The gorgeous series Choosy lip masks sell for $3.50 (on sale for $3) at KCutie.
The standard series Choosy lip masks sell for $3 (on sale for $2.50) at KCutie as well!

Haan Water Fit Sun Foundation SPF 50

Sun foundation with full of moisture that prevents skin against dryness. Multi cover in 10 in 1 creates clear and transparent skin. 40% of moisturizing texture creates glowing makeup. Long lasting with water & sweat proof. SPF50+ PA+++

This is a nice bb cream in a unique compact. Instead of being in a sponge that you apply with a puff, the bb cream is housed inside the compact and you press down on the inside to dispense some of the foundation through the center hole. You may then use a puff or a makeup brush to apply the bb cream. I love this compact because it dispenses what you need and once you use it up you are left with a clean surface - you do not keep dipping into your foundation with a dirty sponge.
I find this compact to be super easy to use, much more sanitary than traditional compact foundations, and very affordable as well! The formula itself has also become one of my favorites. The shade blends nicely into my light skintone, providing natural coverage that evens out my skintone and hides redness and imperfections without the addition of concealer. This bb cream also lasts all day, and barely moves much underneath my glasses.

KCutie offers an excellent selection of korean beauty products and they really took their time making sure to find the best products that deliver the greatest results for their customers. Right now, if you sign up for their newsletter, you will receive a coupon good for 15% off your entire order! Scentbird: Monthly Designer Perfume Subscription Review

Finding your signature scent - one that suits your tastes and represents your personality - can be a daunting task. I'm nearly 30 and I still struggle to find perfumes that I enjoy wearing. The trouble with really giving a perfume a fair chance is that they're expensive, and who wants to spend big money on a small bottle of perfume that you may end up not even truly enjoying after a few days? I certainly don't, which is why I'm so glad to have found Scentbird.

Scentbird is a monthly subscription service that sends you a new travel-sized perfume every month for just $14.95!

The sign-up process is super easy - by answering a few questions about your personality and scents you enjoy, and entering in any perfumes you already know and love, Scentbird matches you up with scents that you might be interested in trying out.

With over 350 designer fragrances available, Scentbird is sure to carry something perfect for you.

Scentbird was generous enough to send me a one month trial of their subscription to test out and share with you all! ~Thank you Scentbird!~

My subscription sample arrived in a sleek and shiny black bubble-mailer - both beautiful and well protected!

Inside the mailer was a Scentbird introductory card, a "Hello Spring" card with a beautiful floral print, and a nice velour baggie that houses and protect the perfume sample.

Your first month of Scentbird includes a metal travel case that houses the perfume vial. Each month you will receive a new vial, which you remove from the case and reuse.

There is a cute little bird with a bottle of perfume behind it on the top of the vial - a "scent bird."

To raise the nozzle and spray your perfume, you simply twist the bottle and the top pops up! Twist is back the other way to lower it back down so you don't experience any leaks. The nozzle sprays a very fine mist, there is no splattering or large droplets flying out of this bottle.

For this review, Scentbird sent me a sample of Angel from Thierry Mugler. Based on the couple perfumes I already know I enjoy wearing, this was a recomendation for me, and I love the scent! This is what Scentbird had to say about the scent:
The main notes of this scent are merengue, patchouli, red berries, and vanilla.

The above notations are how Scentbird categorizes this particular perfume.

I find it to be very sweet smelling (which I like), like honey. It is very strong at first, but after a few minutes it settles into the skin and warms up a bit and becomes delicious and playful. What an exciting way to discover a new perfume!

Whether you're searching for a scent that tells others a story about you, or you just enjoy trying new scents without committing to a full size bottle - Scentbird is the subscription for you!

You can visit Scentbird's website for more information, as well as their social media channels:
