Nature's Variety is a long time favorite of Venus, and Ocean has enjoyed it the past year she has been with us as well. I've been very fond of their Instinct line, including their grain free kibbles and raw dog foods, but this is something we've never tried before, that is relatively new from Nature's Variety. Purex No Sort Laundry Detergent #Review & #Giveaway {Ends 5/11}

This was such an exciting product to try. We don't get many light colored clothes in our baskets, so being able to mix them together really saved us water and the hassle of running an extra load of laundry. In regular loads (with my yoga pants and t-shirts, as well as Bug's clothing) this detergent worked perfectly! There was no sorting involved, and no color transfer onto lighter colored pieces of clothing. I put this detergent to the true test when Bug dumped a glass of juice onto the dog bed. I zipped off the slipcover and threw it in the wash with the towels and rags I used to scrub the carpet and wall.

Unfortunately, the slipcover for the dog bed must have been too dark to mix with whites, because it left a bluish tint on the towels from the same load. Not dark, but enough to notice, especially if you like *white* whites.

Overall, this was a nice detergent to use for regular everyday laundry. But please don't use it on deeply pigments fabrics like jeans or jean-material.

Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polish in "Surf Spray"

Revlon Parfumerie nail polish in "Surf Spray." Such a beautiful blue, and this formula is thin and dries quickly! I picked it up at Target for about $6. The scent (a fresh summery scent with this color) comes through once the polish is dry, and lasts roughly 24 hours.

DIY Moisturizing Cailyn Lip Color {from April Ipsy Bag}

I don't think I'm alone when I say that the Apple Pink Cailyn lip color in the April 2014 Ipsy glam bag was too matte. It was dry on my lips, and didn't spread well with that cute little brush in the cap. So instead of tossing it, I modified it.

 What I used:

• Caitlyn lip color in "apple pink"
• butter knife (small spatula also works)
• Aquafor (or vaseline)
• small microwave safe bowl
• I also used a skewer because we're out of toothpicks, and also forgot to include it in the picture

 I emptied out my lip gloss tub into the bowl, and also added about half of the amount of lip gloss worth of Aquafor.

 I microwaved the bowl for 30 seconds, stirred up the mix with my butterknife, and poured into the tub. A spatula worked well here to get all the lip color out of the bowl.

You can microwave the tub with the gloss in it to smooth it out if you wish. I did, for about a minute. I use a skewer (or toothpick) to clean off the sides of the tub so it looked like this:

See how creamy and nice the brush goes in?

 So smooth!

I love how it applies now! Please forgive that I haven't done my makeup today... but at least my lips are hydrated!

What Easter Means To Me

Easter has always been a "family holiday" for me. I grew up in a Christian household, and Easter was sometimes a bigger deal to my family that Christmas. We would wake up early, go to church, then get together with extended family for lunch - the grown-ups would chit-chat and the kids would play all day. It was a fun time.

Now that I'm older, Easter isn't such a big deal. Not that Easter isn't important, but I've realized that Easter isn't as important to some as it is to others. I'm not just part of my own family now, but being part of another family who doesn't do anything special for Easter, it's not such a ruckus, and we're not running about like maniacs all day.

Easter will always hold a special meaning to me in my heart. The day my lord and savior rose from the dead. But now that I'm older and have my own family with the love of my life, Easter has become something I outwardly celebrate for my son, instead of myself. This Easter, we won't be heading out to church at 6 am, but I will sit down with my son and say a little prayer. We won't be rushing around cooking meals for other family, but instead having a light lunch at home and conducting a small Easter egg hunt for Bug with his cute little Elmo Easter basket. Easter has just become more fun, than serious, in a sense, as my life has changed.

Ipsy April 2014 Glam Bag

They're here! This month I ordered two subscriptions from Ipsy under two different email addresses. I was happy that I received different  products in each bag, but was a little disappointed in the quality of some products, and that I wouldn't use other products. So after receiving both of these almost completely different bags, I unsubscribed from my second bag, and subscribed to BirchBox to give them a try. Here's what I received in both of my April Ipsy bag's:

Bag #1 (my regular subscription):

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size: This broke when I tried to use it. Fellow subscribers suggested heating it up with my hair dryer to help it glide instead of drag, but in my opinion I received an old pencil that was garbage.
2. Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush: Seems soft, I didn't *need* another eyeshadow brush, but I really like this one and am happy I received it.
3. Dr Brandt microdermabrasion: I literally just bought Neutrogena's Microdermabrasion kit a couple weeks ago and have loved it, so I'm excited to try this too and see how just a "scrub" compares. 
4. Elizabeth Mott pop! goes the shadow: Almost too light, but a night highlight color.
5. Starlooks Lucious Longwear Lip Pencil: Beautiful, I wish all the lip items I received from Ipsy were like this. I won't wear it often because my lips are always chapped, but it'll be nice to have on hand.

Bag #2:

1. Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm: Cute color, but is not a creamy balm. Not something I'll use regularly, but I do like the super-secret brush that hides in the cap!
2. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size: Drags on my eyelid badly, and has very little pigment. I think this one is old too, but I haven't heated it up and re-tryed it yet.
3. City Color White Gold Shadow and Highlight Mousse: Not really a color I like, will probably work as a highlight color.
4. St Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Anti-Aging Multi-Action Face: I'm curious how the "multi-action" features of this would work on my face, but my face it already darker than the rest of my body from wearing a jacket all winter, so I don't want to use a tanner.
5. Such A Tease So Seductive Lashes: Was so excited to try these, but they did not include glue, so I can't until I make a special trip to the store for eyelash glue. That was a huge let-down.

Overall, each bag was a great value, but I realized that I did not need a second bag to get items I really wanted to try.
