Nature's Variety Instinct: Raw Boost Mini's #Review from Chewy.com

Nature's Variety is a long time favorite of Venus, and Ocean has enjoyed it the past year she has been with us as well. I've been very fond of their Instinct line, including their grain free kibbles and raw dog foods, but this is something we've never tried before, that is relatively new from Nature's Variety. Chewy.com sent the chi's a box of Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost Mini's in the duck flavor for some great sprint-time treats to enjoy!

Nature's Variety is a small, independent pet food company located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their team is passionate about providing proper, holistic nutrition for your beloved dog and cat. They believe the best nutrition comes from healthy, natural ingredients. They know all about natural foods – the Nature’s Variety line was developed by families who have been practicing sustainable agriculture for more than 140 years, raising quality livestock and growing crops in America’s heartland. They also stand behind their products with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Nature's Variety Raw Boost Mini's are made from freeze dried chicken as well as some other natural ingredients to make them healthy and tasty! They are the perfect size for small dogs, even our little 5 pound Ocean! They are also easy for her to chew with her missing teeth. This product was a real winner in our house, one we plan to keep on hand at all times!

You can find Nature's Variety Raw Boost Mini's at Chewy.com in a variety of flavors for $7-$9. You can connect with Chewy on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and Instagram. You can also find Nature's Variety on Facebook and Twitter.

Purex No Sort Laundry Detergent #Review & #Giveaway {Ends 5/11}

New Purex No Sort for Colors detergent is the latest laundry innovation from the Purex brand designed to simplify your laundry routine. Purex No Sort for Colors detergent features a breakthrough Anti-Color-Transfer Technology which traps loose dyes in the wash and reduces color bleeding accidents in your mixes color loads leaving your clothes bright and clean.

Purex No Sort for Colors detergent is packed with innovation, but it can't perform miracles, so please follow these words of advice: wash strongly colored fabrics or new pieces of clothing, especially jeans, separately at least 5 times before doing a mixed color load with Purex No Sort for Colors detergent.

This was such an exciting product to try. We don't get many light colored clothes in our baskets, so being able to mix them together really saved us water and the hassle of running an extra load of laundry. In regular loads (with my yoga pants and t-shirts, as well as Bug's clothing) this detergent worked perfectly! There was no sorting involved, and no color transfer onto lighter colored pieces of clothing. I put this detergent to the true test when Bug dumped a glass of juice onto the dog bed. I zipped off the slipcover and threw it in the wash with the towels and rags I used to scrub the carpet and wall.

Unfortunately, the slipcover for the dog bed must have been too dark to mix with whites, because it left a bluish tint on the towels from the same load. Not dark, but enough to notice, especially if you like *white* whites.

Overall, this was a nice detergent to use for regular everyday laundry. But please don't use it on deeply pigments fabrics like jeans or jean-material.

You can enter to win a coupon good for one free bottle of Purex No Sort for colors Laundry Detergent using the Giveaway Tools form below.

Revlon Parfumerie Nail Polish in "Surf Spray"

Revlon Parfumerie nail polish in "Surf Spray." Such a beautiful blue, and this formula is thin and dries quickly! I picked it up at Target for about $6. The scent (a fresh summery scent with this color) comes through once the polish is dry, and lasts roughly 24 hours.

#MilkBone NEW Brushing Chews: Daily Dental Treats #Review & #Giveaway

Milk-Bone® brand is transforming at home oral care for dogs with new Milk-Bone Brushing Chews™. In March of 2014, Milk-Bone released an amazing new product to reduce tartar buildup on yours dogs teeth, right in your own home. When fed daily, Milk-Bone Brushing Chews are clinically proven to be as effective as brushing a dog's teeth twice per week based the reduction and of tartar build-up and bad breath.

Milk-Bone Brushing Chews are so effective that they have earned the trusted Veterinary Oral Health Council’s (VOHC) Seal of Acceptance, the pet industry’s equivalent of the American Dental Association (ADA), for retarding calculus accumulation.

I'd love to tell you all that I'm a perfect pet parent, but the truth is, I'm not. I'm human, and I forget to brush my dogs' teeth. Dental health is a big deal, especially after adopting a senior chihuahua with serious dental issues. I can't be the only one who can remember to my dog a bone every day versus pinning them down to brush their teeth, right? (lol, I hope not!) Milk-Bone has made this daily task so super duper easy, it's crazy! But a good crazy.

This is hook-and-loop closure, not a ziplock type closure. This works so nice! Seals perfectly every time, and keep these chews super fresh!
The chi's received two boxes of these new Milk-Bone Brushing Chews. With their unique 75 degree twist, along with nubs and ridges, they are designed to clean down to the gum line just like the bristles of a toothbrush. They even reach those hard to reach (not to mention crowded) back teeth. We received a box of the size mini (a box of 14 chews for dogs weighing 5-24 pounds) and a box of the size small/medium (a box of 7 chews for dogs weighing 25-74 pounds). Milk-Bone Brushing Chews are packaged in a cute toothpaste-looking box to help associate the thought of your dogs dental hygiene to that of your own.

Both Venus and Ocean loved these chews, and we plan on keeping up with awarding the chi's daily with these chews to not only satisfy their love for treats and chews, but to improve their dental health in the process.

You can find more information about Milk-Bone Brushing Chews, as well as their other products available to your dog by visiting their website. You can also follow Milk-Bone on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Milk-Bone wants to offer a Milk-Bone Brushing Chew Dental Pack to 15 different winners. The Giveaway will be open through 11:59pm Eastern Time April 30th. All you need to do to enter is fill out the rafflecopter and make sure you do the mandatory entry of leaving a comment on my Blog Post. One winner per household.

DIY Moisturizing Cailyn Lip Color {from April Ipsy Bag}

I don't think I'm alone when I say that the Apple Pink Cailyn lip color in the April 2014 Ipsy glam bag was too matte. It was dry on my lips, and didn't spread well with that cute little brush in the cap. So instead of tossing it, I modified it.

 What I used:

  • Caitlyn lip color in "apple pink"
  • butter knife (small spatula also works)
  • Aquafor (or vaseline)
  • small microwave safe bowl
  • I also used a skewer because we're out of toothpicks, and also forgot to include it in the picture

I emptied out my lip gloss tub into the bowl, and also added about half of the amount of lip gloss worth of Aquafor.

I microwaved the bowl for 30 seconds, stirred up the mix with my butterknife, and poured into the tub. A spatula worked well here to get all the lip color out of the bowl.

You can microwave the tub with the gloss in it to smooth it out if you wish. I did, for about a minute. I use a skewer (or toothpick) to clean off the sides of the tub so it looked like this:

See how creamy and nice the brush goes in?

 So smooth!

I love how it applies now! Please forgive that I haven't done my makeup today... but at least my lips are hydrated!

Enjoy!

What Easter Means To Me

Easter has always been a "family holiday" for me. I grew up in a Christian household, and Easter was sometimes a bigger deal to my family that Christmas. We would wake up early, go to church, then get together with extended family for lunch - the grown-ups would chit-chat and the kids would play all day. It was a fun time.

Now that I'm older, Easter isn't such a big deal. Not that Easter isn't important, but I've realized that Easter isn't as important to some as it is to others. I'm not just part of my own family now, but being part of another family who doesn't do anything special for Easter, it's not such a ruckus, and we're not running about like maniacs all day.

Easter will always hold a special meaning to me in my heart. The day my lord and savior rose from the dead. But now that I'm older and have my own family with the love of my life, Easter has become something I outwardly celebrate for my son, instead of myself. This Easter, we won't be heading out to church at 6 am, but I will sit down with my son and say a little prayer. We won't be rushing around cooking meals for other family, but instead having a light lunch at home and conducting a small Easter egg hunt for Bug with his cute little Elmo Easter basket. Easter has just become more fun, than serious, in a sense, as my life has changed.

What does your Easter mean to you?

Ipsy April 2014 Glam Bag

They're here! This month I ordered two subscriptions from Ipsy under two different email addresses. I was happy that I received different  products in each bag, but was a little disappointed in the quality of some products, and that I wouldn't use other products. So after receiving both of these almost completely different bags, I unsubscribed from my second bag, and subscribed to BirchBox to give them a try. Here's what I received in both of my April Ipsy bag's:

Bag #1 (my regular subscription):

  1. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size: This broke when I tried to use it. Fellow subscribers suggested heating it up with my hair dryer to help it glide instead of drag, but in my opinion I received an old pencil that was garbage.
  2. Coastal Scents Medium Shadow Brush: Seems soft, I didn't *need* another eyeshadow brush, but I really like this one and am happy I received it.
  3. Dr Brandt microdermabrasion: I literally just bought Neutrogena's Microdermabrasion kit a couple weeks ago and have loved it, so I'm excited to try this too and see how just a "scrub" compares.
  4. Elizabeth Mott pop! goes the shadow: Almost too light, but a night highlight color.
  5. Starlooks Lucious Longwear Lip Pencil: Beautiful, I wish all the lip items I received from Ipsy were like this. I won't wear it often because my lips are always chapped, but it'll be nice to have on hand.
Bag #2:

  1. Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm: Cute color, but is not a creamy balm. Not something I'll use regularly, but I do like the super-secret brush that hides in the cap!
  2. Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size: Drags on my eyelid badly, and has very little pigment. I think this one is old too, but I haven't heated it up and re-tryed it yet.
  3. City Color White Gold Shadow and Highlight Mousse: Not really a color I like, will probably work as a highlight color.
  4. St Tropez Gradual Tan Plus Anti-Aging Multi-Action Face: I'm curious how the "multi-action" features of this would work on my face, but my face it already darker than the rest of my body from wearing a jacket all winter, so I don't want to use a tanner.
  5. Such A Tease So Seductive Lashes: Was so excited to try these, but they did not include glue, so I can't until I make a special trip to the store for eyelash glue. That was a huge let-down.
Overall, each bag was a great value, but I realized that I did not need a second bag to get items I really wanted to try.

Pill Terminator #Review & $250 Amazon Gift Card #Giveaway #ad

This is a sponsored campaign with Mums the Word Network and Pill Terminator. All opinions are my own.

Finally, a safe and easy way to dispose of your unused or unwanted pills and medication. Did you know that by flushing medications down the toilet, you are exposing not only your communities drinking water, but also the local lakes and rivers, to unnatural drugs and hormones that are harming or even killing off the eco-system? Throwing unused medications in the trash is also becoming a serious hazard, especially in households with children or pets. A tipped over trash can, or a curious toddler can easily find dangerous or even deadly prescription drugs and ingest them without notice. Pets are usually even more willing to gobble up anything they find on the floor. Why risk your family's, communities, or environments health and safety by irresponsibly tossing medication in the garbage? It's so easy to safely discard pills, tablets, capsules, liquids, or powders with the Pill Terminator.

Properly disposing of your unused medications is as easy as Fill, Shake, and Throw Away! I'll walk you through the whole process right here, today! First, you'll order your Pill Terminator from their website for just $12.95.

You can also buy packs of more, including large bulk packs for nursing/retirement homes, hospitals, or disposing of expired medications at pharmacies. Once you receive your Pill Terminator in the mail, you just follow these easy steps below:

Remove the outer safety seal from the Pill Terminator bottle.

Remove the lid.

Remove the inner safety seal.
*There will be a strong chlorine/bleach smell! If you struggle to remove the seal, cut it with a knife.*

Dump your medication into the bottle.

*One Pill Terminator will hold up to 300 medium-size pills. There is a green line on the label you can use to guide you as to how much liquid, or how many pill you can fill the bottle with*

Fill up to the red line with warm water.

Replace the cap on the bottle.

Shake.

Throw away.

Safe - Easy - and Fast! This entire process took me less than 5 minutes. You can find more info by connecting with Pill Terminator on Facebook and Twitter. You can also get 15% off your Pill Terminator order on PillTerminator.com by using coupon code “dalton’ in the checkout!

Pill Terminator is also hosting a $250 Amazon Gift Card giveaway, open through 5/17 to residents of the United States only.
