Rose Mask Showdown! #Fresh vs #Daltokki Comparisson and #Review

I've really been digging roses lately - they're one of my favorite flowers, and I absolutely love the scent of rose in skincare (one of the few scents on my face I enjoy). I know the Fresh Rose Face Mask has been around for a long time, but I never had any interest in it until I saw the Daltokki Real Rose Mask pop up for $6 on the Memebox app a while ago - that deal is long gone, but I figured this would be the perfect time to compare these two seemingly similar masks! Thanks to a friend from Memebox Addicts for sending me a few samples of the Fresh Mask to complete this trial!

I suppose first things first would be to compare ingredients, right? It took a bit of deciphering, but I did manage to (half-assed-ly) translate the ingredient list for the Daltokii to the best of my ability, so below you'll find both lists for each product:

Fresh Rose Face Mask: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Rosa Centifolia Flower, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract, Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aspalathus Linearis Leaf Extract, Faex (Yeast Extract), Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Caramel, Maltodextrin, Parfum (Fragrance), BHT, Citronellol, Phenoxyethanol.

Daltokki Real Rose Mask: Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Damask Rose Flower Extract, Western Flower Rose, Rose Oil, Rosehip Fruit Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, French Rose Pollen, Daisy Flower Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Adenosine Triphosphate, green tea extract, barberry root extract, apple extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Beta-Glucan, cacao extract, carbomer, dextrin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Tromethamine, Polysorbate 80, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, perfume; (rose total amount 4.4%).

I'm sure my translation is not perfect, but it looks like both masks have a compilation of great ingredients!

Looking at the mask itself, the color is the same, but there's an obvious difference right off the bat; "Fresh, where's the rose?!?" Seriously though, there were three bits of rose in the Fresh sample, and the jar of Daltokki is chock full of rose! On the other hand however, the Fresh mask smells more like roses and the Daltokki has a fresh scent with more of a hint of rose. 

Application for both masks was the same - both are a gel consistency, and applied easily with a couple fingers (I did scoop out of the jar with a spatula though, which was not included - watch those germies!). Fresh seemed to start to absorb right away and felt much thinner once applied on the skin, while Daltokki stayed thick and formed a layer over my skin. Both have a very light cooling sensation which I contribute to the gel consistency of the products.

Both directions indicated to leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes, so I waited 10 minutes and came back to the mirror to re-asses. Fresh had almost completely dried/absorbed, while Daltokki formed a gel layer over my skin. Removal was simple, both masks rinsed away with minimal massaging. The Daltokki was a bit sticker since there was more of that left on my face, but neither mask left lingering crust or rose petals on my face.

There was no difference in brightness in my face, which is the first thing I look for after any mask - but this was not disappointing since both masks indicate that they are designed to hydrate and tone the skin. While I do not feel that my skin is more toned after just one use, I can say that both masks did an equally stellar job hydrating my skin.

The Fresh Rose Face Mask gave a 25% increase in moisture to my face, while the Daltokki gave a 29% increase. I'm pretty amazed at these numbers.

So overall, I would say both masks are comparable - but if I had to choose a favorite it would be the Daltokki. It not only did a slightly better job hydrating, but because there's a huge price difference!

TL;DR: Both the Fresh and Daltokki rose masks are very similar and great at hydrating. The Fresh is thinner and contains less rose petal but smells more rosey, which the Daltokki is a bit thicker and contains a lot of rose petal but has a much more mild rose scent.
