My Mask Stash | Week of 7/26 #mymaskstash

This week has been better than many over the past month. I have washed my face daily, I have been laughing and smiling again, and I'm still enjoyed a mask almost every night. This week has been hotter than most of the summer has been so far, and more humid, so I've been breaking out a bit more (on top of all the stress breakouts I'm experiencing daily).
So what masks did I use this week to try to calm down my face demons?

Leaders Coconut Gel Mask with Orange
Leaders is my favorite mask brand, and this particular mask is one of my favorites that they offer. This mask is cooling, soothing, and comfortable to wear. I am able to wear it for a minimum of 30 minutes before it dries out under my nose. It brightens my skin and gives it a nice boost of vitamin c, which is something my skin really needs right now to help lighten up all the dark spots on my face.

TonyMoly I'm Real Rice Mask Sheet for Clear Skin
This mask had a heavy fragrance, which usually triggers a migraine for me, but thankfully this scent disappeared quickly after application, and whatever this scent was composed of didn't bother me after a couple minutes. The material was very soft with some stretch to it, it fit my face well and adhered nicely. The essence was milky, like a thin emulsion, and was very soothing to my skin. I wore my sheet mask cover over this mask, and left it on my face for the full 30 minutes. When I removed the cover the mask was still damp, but I removed it anyway. My skin felt hydrated and soft, and my skins' redness had disappeared. The following morning, some of my acne had cleared up! I would definitely use this mask again.

Karuna Exfoliating Face Mask
Available at Sephora for $8 each, or $28 for four
This mask was thin, with a plastic backing in the package to help unfold and place on your face with added support. The backing is then removed for a comfortable masking experience. This mask had a sweet smell to it, and a nice amount of essence - wet but not overly saturated. I applied my sheet mask cover over this mask and left it on my face for roughly 45 minutes, and never at any point experienced any burning or tingling or any kind to indicate that it was too harsh on my skin. My face felt smooth to the touch after removal, and the redness in my face had disappeared. I applied a light moisturizer and went to bed.
The following morning I woke up with no whiteheads (which is a problem I've been having for about 3 weeks) and the rough patches of congested pores and active acne had diminished greatly. This mask was, in short, a miracle for my face. I still have a few problem areas, but the intensity of those areas were reduced by half with the help of this mask. I plan to purchase more of them as soon as my budget allows.

Borghese Fango Active Mud for Face & Body
I received this mask as a press sample to review, and have used it a few times already but have only posted about it on Instagram. This mask is supposed to purge your pores of build-up and firm your skin.
I apply this mask by squeezing small amounts at a time onto a flat foundation brush, and brushing it onto my face. You want a thick layer, but not too thick where it's going to be clumpy or start to slid off your skin - you just want it thick enough where you cannot see your face underneath, you want it to be able to pull impurities from your skin and be thick enough to work in a firm up your skin too.
When using this mask on your face, you are supposed to only leave it on for 2-5 minutes. After 5 minutes I massaged the mask off with a warm wet washcloth. The mask is easy to remove as long as you stick to the instructions - once it starts to dry it becomes very difficult to remove, and you don't want to have to scrub your face so harshly.
After removal my face is soft, smooth, and brighter looking. I can tell this removes a lot from my pores just based on the look and feel of my face, but I cannot say that this gives me a real noticeable firming effect.

Velieve Aloe Soothing Girlish Mask
I derma-rolled my face prior to using this mask. I haven't yet posted on this blog about my experiences with derma-rolling but it is a big help with fine lines, hyper-pigmentation, and even acne on my skin. It is painful, but in my opinion is worth it considering you only need to do it once a month. Anyways....
After derma-rolling my face is red, swollen, and painful - but there are a lot of punctures in my face as well, so anything I apply to try and sooth it is going to absorb more effectively and more quickly, so this took me a while to pick a mask that I felt would be the least irritating to my skin at this stage. This is what I chose, because of the aloe and the short ingredients list.
This mask had a very light fragrance, and was very soft feeling. It clung to my face nicely, but the fit was a bit awkward - it was too large around my chin, and a little too small around my eyes. After a few minutes I noticed my face started feeling much better and the pain from derma-rolling had subsided. I left this mask on for about 20 minutes before the essence had completely absorbed into my skin. When I removed it the redness I had previously was nearly gone, and there was no pain. My face looked brighter and clearer, and felt more smooth.

Skinny Teatox 14 Day Teatox

Skinny Teatox recently sent me their 14 Day Teatox to try, and share the results with you all. Below you will find a product description provided by the company, as well as my experience with the product and my honest opinion of it.

A 14 Day Teatox Helps You With:
-Weight loss
-Burn calories
-Boost metabolism
-Cleanse
-Detoxify
-Suppress appetite
-Increase energy levels
All the ingredients in Skinny Teatox are 100% natural. There are no chemicals or preservatives. Gluten free. GMO free. Nut free.
I love the packaging this teatox comes in, and how easy it is to use and store. I love the strawberry tea diffuser, it is very cute, and is fun to use. The tea itself tastes much better than I expected. I am sometimes leary of what weight loss products can taste like, but I was very happy with the taste of these products which made it so much easier to keep up with the program for the full 14 days. I also was happy that I did not experience any negative side-effects that I sometimes experience with other weight-loss products. The Skinny Teatox products really are natural, and will not cause harm to your body. I felt much more energized and healthy towards the end of the teatox, and could tell that the program was cleaning all the toxins from my system. I did not loose much weight, but the cleanliness and rejuvenation I felt from this cleanse was completely worth it.

"I and Love and You" Free Ranger Dog Chews | Chewy.com

Earlier this month Chewy sent Venus and I a bag of Free Ranger Bully Sticks from "I and Love and You" to try, and share the results with you all. Below you will find a product description provided by the company, as well as my experience with the product and my honest opinion of it.

Bully Joint Stix come from free range Brazilian cattle (Heyyy, São Paulo!) that are grass fed and raised without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. When we say they're addictive, we promise we're not exaggerating. Dogs love Bully Joint Stix like moms love clean houses. Like toddlers love licking things. Like Prince loves velvet. They're great for treats, as an everyday snack, or whenever you need your dog to do something other than drool on your couch for twenty minutes at a clip.

Key Benefits:
-Made from free range, grass fed beef
-Added glucosamine and chondroitin from green mussels
-Healthy and safe alternative to rawhide
-Low odor for indoor chewing
-Easy on the tummy
-Promotes dental health
"I and Love and You" is one of the first natural brand of dog food that was a success with Ocean. When we rescued her she was on a terrible quality kibble, and after trying several different brands of wet food because of the dental issues she arrived with, we were finally able to get her on something safe and healthy that she enjoyed when we discovered "I and Love and You" "In The Raw" dehydrated dog food. Since that say, even though Ocean has crossed over Rainbow Bridge, this brand rings something special in my heart with dogs, so I was thrilled to be able to try another one of their products with Venus.

These dog chews are made from free-range grass-fed beef pizzle, and have been infused with New Zealand green mussels for the benefits of glucosamine and chondroitin to help with joint support.

These chews were a huge success with Venus. She loves to chew, and bully sticks are one of her favorite chews, too! With the added benefits for her aging joints, and that these are safely made by a trusted company, we found a real winner.

You can find these 6" chews in a 4-pack on Chewy.com - several different varieties!

My Mask Stash | Week of 7/19

I've taken an extensively long break from caring for my skin. I've been struggling with severe depression for the past month, and my skin has suffered as much as my mind. My newest step into caring for my skin once again is washing my face and using a sheet mask each night - I currently am not using any serums, because I simply do not have the ambition to do so.

So, how have I been caring for my skin this past week?

Mask House: Black Charcoal Purifying Element Mask
I love black charcoal sheet masks. They always feel thick, but are so soaked with essence they cling to my face and form to its shape without even the tiniest issue. My face also seems to respond the most to charcoal masks. After three weeks of only washing my face a few times a week and nothing else (no masks, serums, toner - nothing) this was the first mask I used, and I can't believe the difference it made in the 30 minutes I had it on. After I removed it my face appeared brighter, my pores looked better, and my face looked less tired and dehydrated. My acne minimized dramatically overnight after using this mask, too.

Benton: Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack
This is a repeater, but this is the last one I had on hand. Many of you may already know (if you've read past mask stash posts or my Instagram) that this mask is a good preventative treatment for me. It does help heal anything brewing on my skin at the time, but it also helps clarify and brighten my skin, so I try to use one every week or two. However, since I do not trust Benton anymore, I do not know if I will place a new order for these yet or not.

Girl'sDay: Collagen Sheet Mask (Protect & Healing Day)
This mask smelled kinda spicy. I've noticed this smell in other ginseng masks, so I'm sure that's what the smell is. This mask was very cooling, which was so refreshing after spending a majority of the day working out in the sun (we've been cleaning up my grandma's farm the past couple weeks). My skin was so rough and dehydrated (like it had weathered from the sun) but this mask brought some life back to it with nice hydration, which gave a plumping effect. This was a very soothing and hydrating mask.

My Scheming: Bulgarian Rose Whitening Mask
This mask smelled amazing, just like roses. It was such a heavenly luxurious scent, it felt so relaxing and calming - this is probably the closest to a spa experience I will ever be. The mask itself was thin, it came with a plastic backing that was peeled away, and once applied it really clung to my face well. While thin, it was a durable material that felt very soft and comfortable. It has soaked with essence, I was able to leave this mask on for about 45 minutes without using a cover before it started to dry out. It left my skin hydrated, brightened, and plump.

#JGOB Black Charcoal Makeup Sponge

I recently received a JGOB Black Charcoal Makeup Sponge to try, and share the results with you all. Below you will find a product description provided by the company, as well as my experience with the product and my honest opinion of it.

- PERFECT ABSORTION, LESS WASTE - Some makeup sponges waste makeup by absorbing too much of it into the sponge. We have tested and created ours with the perfect density to help prevent wasting your makeup and having to wash it down the drain. Keep your makeup on your face and not in the sponge.
- EXTREMELY SOFT TOUCH - We wanted to ensure that when our makeup sponge enables you to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience similar to that of a soft breeze touching your face beautiful face.
- CONTOURS HARD TO REACH SPOTS - Lets face it now all makeup sponges are built alike. Ours for example are quality controlled to ensure even the smallest defect in shape is eliminated from seeing daylight. With this type of quality you will expect that the shape of this sponge will reach the hard to blend spaces of your face while creating a perfect balance when used evenly.
- TRAVEL CASE INCLUDED - Not everyone has all day to stay at home and its nice to bring the things in life that make a difference when freshening up. So each of our makeup sponges includes a plastic travel case so it can be stored in while not in use. Most sponges we have found are more likely to deteorate over time when exposed to certain elements outside their package. So we have created a unique travel pack that will allow you to put your makeup sponge in your purse or to jetset to your next destination with out worrying about it touching things it should not.
- REUSABLE & EASY TO CLEAN - Why would anyone want to create more waste then what is necessary. We have designed our makeup sponge so it can be washed, gently squeezed to dry and used again.
This sponge made it especially easy to apply my makeup. While I have tried the more commonly known Beauty Blender a few times, I was never "wowed" by the results it gave me. The JGOB sponge was more dense but was really the perfect firmness for applying makeup, it was larger, but still easy to get into crevices of my face with the narrow end, and gave me a flawless finish. I highly recommend this sponge for anyone who dabbles with makeup, from beginners to professionals.

Ipsy | July 2015 Unboxing

This months theme for Ipsy was "Summer Lovin'," containing products fit for a great summer routine - being nice and refreshing and a perfect match for the heat and sunshine.
Spoiler: I'm overjoyed to announce that I didn't receive any sunscreen!

The bag this month is colorful and fun. I love the front-zippered bags better than the ones that zip on the top. I use these bags as a wallet in my purse, and they're super easy to just carry what I need. It's also canvas instead of pvc, which is nice if I'm going to be out in the sun.

1. Teeez Cosmetics: Read My Lips Lipstick in Killing Me Softly (matte coral)
I've been trying more lipsticks lately, and was excited about this one because I love matte lipsticks and I loved the packaging of this one - but coral really isn't a color that intrigues me. This is a great formula, but not the color for me.

2. Crown Brush: Professional Tweezers
The color options for this product were either black or pink, and I'm thrilled to have received the pink one! I'll be honest, I really don't need another tweezers, but this may end up in a giveaway someday!

3. Jor'el Parker: Classico
This scent is described as exotic - with hints of Indian Tuberose, Turkish Cyclamen, and Spanish Mandarin. I hate perfume. There are two perfumes in the whole world right now that I will wear when I feel the occasion calls for it, and this is not even close to being one of those. I will say this is a great summer scent, but I do not like it. It will also be in a giveaway someday.

4. Pur~Lisse: Pur-Bright Ultra Skin Brightening Serum
I always get excited when I get new skincare items in a subscription box, and then am usually let down by ingredients or being a product that I really have no use for. This serum is supposed to brighten and even out your skin tone - perfect for those sunspots I've been racking up this summer - but it contains alcohol so I cannot use it. I did recently change my Ipsy Quiz to indicate that I do not want anything but makeup, so fingers crossed for next month for some good makeup items!

5. Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics: 2-in-1 Shadow/Liner
This is an eyeliner claiming to give a thicker line that is easily blend-able into any eyeshadow look. The color is a nice neutral brown, which honestly isn't a typical eyeliner color for me, but I'm debating trying it as a lid color or just tossing it in the giveaway pile.

I also received shimmer tattoos as an extra points-bones item this month. I'll be 100% honest and admit that I only purchased them to use up my points before them expired. I won't use them. They are pretty though!

This month was nice. I know I sound harsh about some items, but I've been in a slump lately and honestly haven't touched my makeup in about 3 weeks - so it's not that I don't want to try the products that sound good to me, it's just that I don't know if I'll use them or not. I love makeup, and trying new makeup, but it's just not in me lately. On the plus side, if I don't use them, they'll be in the giveaway pile for one of you to win in the near future!

The 3B Box: July 2015 Unboxing & Review #the3bbox

For those of you who are just joining my blog, The 3B Box is a monthly subscription service (started in December of 2014) providing the must-have Asian beauty products to those who may not have their readily available for purchase for just $12 a month! 3B is based in the United States, and currently only ships within the States, but they are working on branching outwards internationally, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates! I have more details about this subscription and how to sign up in my first review of 3B.

This month when the shipping email came out, they noted that all the products this month would be from SkinFood. While SkinFood will always hold a special place in my heart for being one of the first k-beauty brands I was ever introduced to, I've found over the past year that their products aren't as natural as they lead on to be, and my skin doesn't play well with a lot of the ingredients they use.
Let's take a look at the July 3B Box...

The info card.

Black Bean Eyeliner Pencil:
I appreciate 3B spacing out their inclusion of eyeliners (the last one was in their very first box) but eyeliners are 10 a penny in my book. If you're going to throw one in, it better be special. This appears to be a typical pencil liner,  and black is not a color I am short of. The average retail value for this item appears to be around $2.

Rice Wash-Off Mask:
I'm actually a big fan of the Black Sugar Wash-Off Mask from SkinFood, and this is another that I wanted to try, until I discovered that I was allergic to topical applications of alcohol as well. I've heard this mask offers a nice gentle exfoliation, but unfortunately I cannot use it. The retail value of this item ranges from $5 to $15 (the highest being at Memebox US) depending on where you are purchasing from, but the average seems to be around $6.

Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Toner:
I've grown accustomed to toners containing alcohol, so it was no suprise to me that I couldn't use this sample either. The retail value, if I had to guess, would be around $1 for this item. There's maybe two uses in here.

Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Emulsion:
I couldn't find much info about this, but it seems to contain alcohol as well. Guesstimated retail value is also around $1.

I've expressed the past couple months how I feel about only receiving 4 samples for $12. Yeah, two items this month are full size, but the value of this subscription just isn't there. This month barely hit the mark at $12, and there's only one item that I can actually use, but don't need. This is the 8th month that 3B has been in business, and unfortunately I feel like they've slowly been going downhill since they're third month. When I joined this subscription I was hoping to discover new brands and new products - but that hasn't really happened for me. There are a couple products I've really enjoyed, but they're nothing really new to me. Maybe I'm too overly seasoned with the past year I spent with Memebox, but even they aren't anything like what they used to be.

For those new to Asian beauty and wanting to experiment with new products that you've never seen or heard of before - yes, I do recommend The 3B Box. But for those of you like me, who are pretty familiar with Asian beauty products and already use them on a regular basis, I would recommend a polite pass.

This is my last month of 3B, as I have now cancelled my subscription.

The 3B Box | June 2015 Unboxing & Review #the3bbox

For those of you who are just joining my blog, The 3B Box is a monthly subscription service (started in December of 2014) providing the must-have Asian beauty products to those who may not have their readily available for purchase for just $12 a month! 3B is based in the United States, and currently only ships within the States, but they are working on branching outwards internationally, so keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates! I have more details about this subscription and how to sign up in my first review of 3B.

Let's take a look at the June 3B Box...

The info card.

SkinFood Argan Oil Shampoo
This shampoo is supposed to make dry and damaged hair more healthy with argan oil. It moisturizes without weighing hair down or making it greasy. I personally have very oily hair already, so I didn't actually use this.

Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream
Etude House has a great reputation for its bb creams (or blemish balms). They provide light, natural, dewy coverage while healing your skin and providing light moisturization. I enjoyed this bb cream, but found it a bit too light for my summer skin and a little too hydrating for my oiliness.

It's Skin Mangowhite Lip & Eye Remover Tissue
I love receiving larger packets of makeup wipes in subscription boxes =) These had a nice floral scent that wasn't overpowering. They did an ok job at removing most makeup,  I'd consider repurchasing these if I didn't have so many others to go through.

A'Pieu Finger Blusher
This is a cream blush that gives a natural rosy flush to the cheeks. This was a little too much for my oily skin, and while the color was beautiful, it ended up looking very greasy on my skin.

I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed to have only received 4 items again in this months bag. Maybe I'm spoiled by larger subscription services like Ipsy, which provide 5 samples & full size items for less. I guess for $12 I hope to find new products each month that are unique. The products this month were nice, but not all were new to me, and even a sheet mask to get an extra product in would have been great this month. Here's to hoping that July really knocks my socks off!
