TonyMoly "I'm Real" Red Wine Sheet Mask #Review

TonyMoly is a very common Korean skincare and cosmetics brand sold all over the world. I own a few of their products (mostly fruit shaped skincare) but I recently came across their "I'm Real" line of sheet masks in the Meme-shop and had to give them a try.

Tonight I'm trying out the Red Wine sheet mask from the I'm Real line. This mask is for Pore Care as it boldly states on the packaging. It is supposed to tighten uneven skin texture with enlarged pores - sounds like a mask my face desperately needs.

The mask itself is very thin, but strong enough to not tear while unfolding or applying to my face. The mask had a bit of a wine smell to it when I opened the envelope, but after applying it to my face it turned into more of a mature grape scent. I could fall in love with these masks if they all smell this delicious. The ingredients are conveniently written in English on the back of the packaging, so I ran them through CosDNA to see if there was anything I should be worried about. I spotted a 1 out of 5 in each comedogenic and sensitive skin irritant category - each from different ingredients, but obviously not a concern.

The mask was thin enough to fully form to my face and stay put - there was no bubbling or slipping with this particular paper mask, which is a huge plus for me. After 30 minutes I removed the mask.

The mask had very little moisturizing effect, but made my skin look and feel smooth. The essence absorbed quickly and left no sticky or tacky feeling behind. Overall this is a nice mask that gave a nice pore tightening effect. I found this mask in the Memebox shop for $4 (available to residents with a US address only) - but you can also find it on other sites such as TesterKorea and KoreaDepart for a cheaper price but a longer wait time.

***Update: The next morning after using this mask I woke up to several spots of cycstic acne on my face - something I hadn't experienced in months. I can't say for sure it was caused by this mask, but it was the only new thing I added to my routine so it seems as though this is the culprit.

  1. AH shame it triggered acne because it seemed to have a great anti-inflammatory effect on your skin! That after picture is just, whoa. :)

I get nasty surprises from astringent masks like this one seems to be too :/. Maybe the broccoli one from the same line would do the trick without the morning after surprise.
