Wellness CORE Superfood Protein Bars for Dogs | Chewy.com

For the month of May, Chewy.com sent Venus a bag of Wellness CORE Grain-Free SuperFood Protein Bars (with Salmon, Whitefish, and Pomegranate) to try, and share the results with you all. Below you will find a product description provided by the company, as well as my experience with the product and my honest opinion of it.

Wellness CORE is based on the nutritional philosophy that dogs, given their primal ancestry, thrive on a diet mainly comprised of meat. These nutrient-dense protein nuggets are packed with quality animal protein, without fillers or grains, along with wholesome superfoods. Each tender bite delivers an incredibly healthy and exceptionally tasty way to treat your dog.
Key Benefits:
*Grain-free, gluten-free, tender, bite-size bars
*Perfect pairings of hearty proteins and delicious superfoods
*No meat by-products, wheat, corn, soy or artificial flavors, colors or preservatives
*Only 16 calories per treat
*100% natural & Made in the USA!

Ingredients: Salmon, Whitefish, Peas, Flaxseed, Natural Flavor, Cane Molasses, Salt, Broccoli, Carrots, Pomegranates, Mixed Tocopherols added to preserve freshness, Dried Cultured Skim Milk, Rosemary Extract
These protein packed bars are soft and chewy, with a strong fish scent. This scent is very pleasing to Venus, but doesn't escape the bag either when closed. The bars themselves were a bit intimidating to me at first glance, because Venus is a smaller dog, but thankfully these bars break apart very easily into small squares that can be eaten much easier. I've found that these are a great snack to keep along when going on walks to give her a little healthy boost of energy.

#MaskGenie | Sheet Mask Subscription | Unboxing

Being a mom, wife, and college student - I'm often looking for ways to relax and enjoy whatever few free minutes I have to myself. I've grown accustomed over the past year or so to using this short "free time" to use a mask on my face to help make up for the negligence I'm usually giving my skin due to a busy schedule. Wash-off masks [made from clay, mud, or cream] are great and all, but I've found that my skin seems to get much more positive results from sheet masks.

What are sheet masks?
If you're unfamiliar with sheet masks, that's ok! I'll do my best to explain them briefly in this post for you. Sheet masks are a sheet - usually made of cotton, pulp, fabric, or bio-cellulose (gel) - and cut to the generic shape of a face, complete with holes for eyes, nose and mouth. Some masks even come in two pieces for better fit. Sheet masks are unlike your traditional wash-off masks in that they are not meant to deep clean your face, and you do not wash them off in any way. The sheet is soaked with essence (similar to a serum) and when you apply the sheet to your face, your skin has a chance to absorb the essence for a prolonged period of time (usually 10-30 minutes). Sheet masks are best for hydrating the skin, but they come in so many varieties, you really can find one to fit almost any type of skin condition or need. They range from dirt cheap (I've found them as low as 50 cents a piece online with decent ingredients) to top of the line (SK-II Facial Treatment Masks retail for over $15 a piece).

I've reviewed sheet masks on my Instagram, but I'm bringing them here today to tell you about a sheet mask subscription service that I think any mom (or dad, or student - anyone really...) would enjoy: MaskGenie! MaskGenie is a monthly subscription that sends out a bag of either 5 masks for $12 or 10 masks for $22 - these prices include shipping, and MaskGenie ships worldwide! What I love about MaskGenie is that it gives you the opportunity to try new sheet masks that you may not have heard about before and some from different brands than what is most readily available to everyone.

MaskGenie recently sent me a limited edition pouch to try, and share my results with you all. This pouch was made up with a limited supply of masks and was available for purchase separately from the monthly subscription, and was sold for $34 inclusive of shipping. Below I'm going to share a brief overview of the pouch with you, and later on I will share a new post with my thoughts on the masks after I've used them all.

The "10 Days in the Wild" pouch contains 10 different sheet masks, all of a different animal faces, and a few different brands as well!

The first three pictured are from Berrisom. There is a monkey face mask with snail as a main ingredient (one of my favorites because it is repairing and really helps my acne - great for any skin type though to be honest!), a cat mask with collagen, and a raccoon mask with placenta and adenosine.

The next two are from Royal Skin; a fox mask and a sheep mask. These are basic hydrating masks with no advertising of special ingredients on the packaging like the first three.

The following four masks are all from SNP (or Shining Nature Purity); an otter aqua mask, a tiger wrinkle mask, a dragon soothing mask, and a panda whitening mask. Again, no special ingredients listed but instead a key-word hinting at what this mask will do for your skin.

The final mask is an anti-wrinkle eye mask that may make you look like a penguin from Luxury Soo.

I've filmed my unboxing of this bag if you'd like to see the mask packages up close:

Check back soon for a second blog post with my reviews of each mask included in MaskGenies's "10 Days in the Wild" pouch! Make sure to check out MaskGenie online and their subscription service for a great way to try new sheet masks.

My Mask Stash: Week 2

Welcome to my two-month-past-due second week of "My Mask Stash!" An originally hoped to be weekly overview post of the sheet masks I've used over the past week. Life has been insane the past couple months; with my son starting a special preschool program to help his concentration and spontaneous behaviors, his sinus infection issues, my husbands Lupus outbreaks, and my college semester coming to an end. My uncle is also loosing his battle with cancer - so, needless to say, my blog has really suffered lately. However, I had some extra time today while Bug was at school to get a post in, so what better way to relax than to write about some sheet masks!

Lets jump in, shall we?

Benton Snail Been High Content Mask Pack
(Purchased from Memebox, no longer available there)
I recently had a bit of trouble with Benton, but I have covered those issues in a past post and will not bore you with it all again now. This mask is a good routine maintenance type of sheet mask for me. A lot of people swear it helps acne and troubled skin, but I find that this mask helps my skin better if I just use it once or twice a week instead of waiting til I have a breakout. Despite my issues with Benton, I do love this mask and will continue to keep them on hand.

Leaders StepSolution Pore-Scaling Black Aqua Mask
Purchased from Memebox for $3 each (US only unfortunately)
Can I just say how much I love black sheet masks? Does anyone else just feel cool wearing them? I sort of expected this mask would be black in color, but wasn't sure when I purchased it, and that just made me love it even more. This was a very soft mask that was thick but very flexible and fit my face very well. It was soaked with essence - enough to rewet my sheet mask while wearing it, spread some on my neck as well as my arms and backs of my hands. I really got my money's worth out of this mask! The charcoal calmed down active acne quite a bit, eliminated redness, and brightened my complexion. This was a great mask that I will repurchase for times I am experiencing a bad breakout.
(unfortunately, I could not find an english list of ingredients to analyze)

Leaders Insolution Coconut Gel Brightening Recovery Mask
Purchased from Memebox for $3.50 (US only unfortunately)
I love how professional the Leaders Insolution masks look. This Brightening mask is for dull skin with an uneven skin tone, and blemishes - and, lucky me, I have all three! The thing I love most about the coconut gel masks is that they are thin, but strong and they adhere really well to my skin. This mask wasn't soaked with essence, but the gel has absorbed enough essence that it left my skin feeling plumped and moist. My skin was much brighter after use, and left no redness behind (not even in any blemishes or scarring). Some redness returned to imperfections by morning, but I loved the effects this mask had on my skin.

Naexy Genius Luminant Mask Pack
These masks looked interesting to me because of the two-step masking process. Step one is the application of an ampoule to your face, and then you apply the sheet mask for step two. By applying the sheet mask over the ampoule, the essence from the mask forces your skin to absorb the ampoule first and basically pushes more into your skin. This is a great concept but sometimes I feel like it doesn't work that way and I end up using a sheet mask before serums/ampoules to ensure the goodness the mask offers can fully absorb into my skin. Unfortunately, I hated this mask. It's not because I had to apply an ampoule before the mask, but because of a couple other reasons. Firstly, the scent of this mask is too overpowering - it smelled like I doused my face in a bottle of perfume, which is actually fitting to my second reason. Secondly, this mask has a high alcohol content, so much that it dried my face a little after I removed it, it made my skin burn while it was on, and it caused an acne breakout. I do not recommend this mask to anyone with sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Etude House Green Tea Nose Pack
Can be found on BeautyNetKorea; $2.16 for one, $4.50 for five
I love nose pore strips. I know some people hate them and think they are unsafe, but I am a die-hard nose strip fan and use them weekly. I've even gotten my hubby to use them a couple times a month now (but shhh, don't tell him I told you). This strip smelled better than ones I pick up at the drugstore here in America. I enjoyed that a lot, because the smell can be pretty gross sometimes - basically like warmed up glue, which IMO is not very appealing - but when it works it's hard to complain. I found the green tea to be calming to me skin, there was no redness left after removal of the strip. This nose pack also removed a substantial amount of gunk from my pores, so I was all around happy. No complaints from me! And I might even order these particular ones too.

PureSmile Choosy Gorgeous Series Lip Mask in Purple Pearl
I love these lip masks! They are exactly what every chapped pair of lips needs, and mine are chapped year-round. This is an intense hydro-gel sheet mask that is got your lips and their surrounding area. They contain hyaluronic acid, collagen, and vitamin e. The price may seem a bit high, but after trying several different cheaper brands, as well as wash-off lip masks and scrubs - this mask is the one I notice the best results from. Definitely a holy grail item for me.
