Get In - Get Seen - Get Fans - With The "Hot or Not" App!

Want to meet new people?
Of course you do. The concept of Hot or Not is simple, we show you who likes you nearby. At home, in the office, on the street, you can get to know new people!

Who We Are
Hot or Not, the Original, was created over a decade ago, and now, it's back on mobile. Created by a group of young innovative minds, reminiscing about the fun they used to have on Hot or Not, they got together to produce Hot or Not for 2013.

We all need solutions to the age old questions, "How do I tell them I like them", "What if they say no when I ask them out", "How do I meet someone new". Hot or Not has provided the answer... let us do the work for you.

Hot or Not has been around for a long while now, I even remember the site from when I was a kid, it was "the site" to visit during library hours for some fun and laughs. But it's bit more serious than that now. Hot or Not is now "the site" to connect and network with people who share similar interests. It's a great way to get represent yourself socially on the web and share your media outlets with new people you meet through Hot or Not. As well as a dating site!

So how do I go about meeting these new people, you might ask? Well, it's very simple really. All you need to do is download the Hot or Not app! It's free to download, join, and use; you really can't go wrong here!

I know some of you may be skeptical, but I have an admittion to make. It was a through a similar mobile service I had back years ago that led me to meet my fiance! I personally urge you to try this app, whether you're looking for friends or more intimate relationships, Hot or Not is the app for you.

In addition to meeting new and exciting people, Hot or Not is also hosting a $1,000 sweepstakes! It's quite simple to enter, too. Just visit the previous link to "like" Hot or Not on Facebook, then enter your email address, and click "Enter." That's it! The winner will be announced and receive an email February 15th 2014 and will receive a $1,000 gift card to their choice of retailer. The sweepstakes is open to residents of the US only, though the Hot or Not app is available in both the US and the UK.

So what are you waiting for? Download Hot or Not right away!

Greenies #Review & a #Giveaway from Chewy.com

This weeks review item was received from Chewy.com! Offering great deals on pet products and free shipping at $49!

http://chewy.com

Have you ever asked yourself "What's an easy way to keep my dogs' teeth clean?" I know I have. I'd like to be able to tell you all right now that I brush both the chi's teeth twice a day and their teeth are perfect, but I cannot. Venus has nice teeth, I'll tell you that. But there's room for improvement, and Ocean's teeth are still slowly getting better as we save for her dental surgery, but we're always open to more products we can use at home to help her tartar go away. I do brush their teeth almost once a day. To be honest it's something that I forget about. To be a little disgusting and kind of off track for a moment, I'll even admit that I sometimes forget to even brush my own teeth more than once a day (oops!). Greenies are perfect for people like me who maybe forget to brush their dogs teeth or just have a dog who loves to fight or run away from the toothbrush.

http://www.chewy.com/s/greenies

Greenies are a toothbrush shaped treat with a unique chewy texture designed to freshen your pets breath and fight off periodontal disease and gingivitis by removing plaque and tartar from your pets' teeth. They contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and are made in the USA. Plus, all Greenies dental chew formulations have been awarded the Veterinary Oral Health Council’s Seal of Acceptance for control of plaque and tartar.

Greenies are made for both dogs and cats. There are also special formulations for puppies, overweight dogs, and senior dogs in addition to their original formulas that all comes in different sizes. There are several varieties available for cats as well as pill pockets available for both dogs and cats.

You can purchase Greenies from Chewy.com ~here~. You can connect with Chewy on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google +, and Instagram, too!

Save Big on Textbooks With CampusBookRentals.com!

If you're a college student like me, you know how expensive textbooks can be. You use them for a semester or two, and then get next to nothing back when the end of the semester comes and you sell your book back to your college at a "book-buy-back." CampusBookRentals.com is here to ease that cost and save you some money by allowing you rent your textbooks for a fraction of what you'd pay your college for your books. I (shamefully) already purchased my books from my school, and decided to see how much I could have saved by renting my books this semester vs buying.

Above are the three books I needed for my nursing classes this semester. You can see the cost to rent all three together would be $151.12. Can you guess what I paid by buying? Take a guess before you scroll down to my receipt...

The following photo is my actual receipt from my college book store. It has not been altered:

That's right, I paid $494.75! There is a $6 charge on my receipt for a binder of handouts we are required to buy from one of our teachers, so minus that cost, I could have saved $337.63! I am in shock, and as of right now, will probably never buy another book through school again.

How does it work?

On average, college students are saving 40-90% on their books when using CampusBookRentals.com. They offer free shipping when you rent your books and pay for you to ship them back when you're finished. You can highlight important notes just like the book is your own for future reference when studying for exams, without being penalized. CampusBookRentals also offers flexible renting periods; you can choose from their predetermined rental periods which are priced accordingly, or you can tell them when you'll be returning it if you need it longer. Not only are they helping you save money, but CampusBookRentals also donates to Operation Smile each time textbook is rented!

Now, maybe you were like me and already have a stockpile of textbooks at home and are reading this post wondering how it's going to benefit you. Well, get ready for this. CampusBookRentals now has a new program where you can rent out your textbooks for a fee to other students! RentBack.com allows you to make two to four times more back for your textbooks than most book buy-back programs available at colleges. Check out the video below to see how it works:

I don't know about you, but I'm fairly positive I'll be renting my books from now on at CampusBookRentals.com. Even if I buy (or with the books I've already bought) I'll be offering them to other students for savings to them and profit for me at RentBack.com! You can check out more info about either program at their respective sites. Don't keep these savings to yourself, make sure you share both sites with friends, family, and fellow students!

Happy Birthday, Baby Gabe! #birthdayboy

It still seems like just yesterday we brought our newborn baby boy home from the hospital. I feel so blessed to have had a minor lapse in my infertility to be able to bring this beautiful boy into our lives. These past three years have been filled with joy, happiness, sleepiness, and adventure. I wouldn't trade being a mother for anything.

Happy Third Birthday, Gabriel!

Pet Blogger Challenge 2014

I've joined the blog hop hosted by Go Pet Friendly, by taking the 2014 Pet Blogger Challenge! Go Pet Friendly posted the following questions on their blog for hoppers to answer and then link up their post.

Pet Blogger Challenge Jan. 10

1. How long have you been blogging? Please tell us why you started blogging, and, for anyone stopping by for the first time, give us a quick description of what your blog is about.
I started blogging in January of 2010. It was a huge turning point in the life of myself and my fiance, and I thought blogging about our dogs would help me get through the struggles we had in the past. Shortly after I started blogging about our dogs, I discovered I was pregnant and my blog became a mix of dogs and babies. I still blog about both today, but the "chi's" make up a majority of my blogs content.

2. Name one thing about your blog, or one blogging goal that you accomplished during 2013, that made you most proud.
I didn't take part in the 2013 Pet Blogger Challenge, so I didn't really have goals laid out for myself or my blog, but I would say that I definitely accomplished bringing in more readers. My blogs' page views have tripled over the past year, and my social media connections have more than doubled as well. I hope to bring in more readers this year, and have a goal for myself to post at least every other day.

3. When you look at the post you wrote for last year’s Pet Blogger Challenge, or just think back over the past year, what about blogging has changed the most for you?
I didn't take part in last years' challenge, but I know my outlook for my blog has changed. Prior to this past year I focused more on my son, and even throughout 2013 I focused my content on product reviews. This year, while I would love to still post a lot of reviews of dog related products, I hope to be able to branch out my post topics more.

4. What lessons have you learned this year – from other blogs, or through your own experience – that could help us all with our own sites?
To post on your blog daily, and have fun with your posts. Even if it's just a photo of your pets, who doesn't love a cute pet to look at?

If you could ask the pet blogging community for help with one challenge you’re having with your blog, what would it be?
How to encourage readers to comment and share their thoughts more. I feel like, even though I'm getting more visits to my blog, that readers aren't reading the full posts, or getting any enjoyment from looking through my blog. I wish I could receive more comments and feedback, and have some "friends" of the blog who are excited to see a new post from me.

5. What have you found to be the best ways to bring more traffic to your blog, other than by writing great content?
Joining blogging groups. I've joined several groups on Facebook where we exchange links to read and give feedback on.

6. How much time to do you spend publicizing your blog, and do you think you should spend more or less in the coming year?
I currently spend a few hours a day publicizing posts on my blog. I would love to have traffic flow in while spending less time, but I have a feeling that I will be spending even more time on publicizing my blog this year.

7. How do you gauge whether or not what you’re writing is appealing to your audience?
I currently don't, I just post!

How do you know when it’s time to let go of a feature or theme that you’ve been writing about for a while?
When I'm burnt out on it. If I'm completely uninterested in posting about a topic, I imagine my readers don't want to hear about it anymore either.

8. When you’re visiting other blogs, what inspires you to comment on a post rather than just reading and moving on?
If I just read and move on, then who's to say that that's all anyone does on my blog? If I comment and give some good feedback about a post I've just read, I hope that in return someone will be willing to post on my blog too.

9. Do you do product reviews and/or giveaways?
Yep!

If so, what do you find works best, and what doesn’t work at all?
I've found out that my blog is just not big enough to have companies contact me asking me to review products. I spend a lot of time researching companies to find good fits for my blog, and emailing them about myself, my family, and my blog and explaining what I have to offer as far as a review post and promotion of my review should they be willing to send me a product. Sometimes, it works!

If not, is this something you’d like to do more of? What hurdle is getting in your way?
N/A

10. When writer’s block strikes and you’re feeling dog-tired, how do you recharge?
I just take a break from blog-ville. My blog took a huge hit, but shortly after Gabe was born I took a long break from blogging all-together. It helped me re-charge and gave me a new outlook on what direction I wanted my blog to go in, but it suffered and I lost a lot of followers in the mean time.

11. Have you ever taken a break from your blog? How did that go?
I sure have! I was slow to start, and thought I could start going strong after Gabe was born. But I was wrong, and got burnt out. I took about a half a year off of blogging, but it was refreshing. Since my blog was still fairly new, I was able to re-think where I wanted everything to go in the long run and readjust my blogging habits.

Have you ever thought about quitting your blog altogether? What makes you stay?
No. But I do have ideas for other blogs in my head should this one not work out.

12. What goals do you have for your blog in 2014?
Allow myself a monthly budget to purchase products for review. I've noticed my reviews lapse for long periods of time while I track down new company's willing to send product for us to try out. I'm continuing my BarkBox subscription to have a monthly delivery of random product to review (you can use my coupon code on the right sidebar if you'd like to try it out, too) and am currently looking for low fat dog treats and foods to review with Venus during her weight loss journey (a new addition to my blog).

2013 Pet Expenses

I started posting this monthly run-down in August, so I didn't get monthly break downs during this whole year, but I had decided to go through online accounts to find what I spent for the entire year of 2013 for our two chihuahua's. I know this won't include everything, there are places I pay cash at and have a hard time keeping track of receipts, but this will include the bulk of what I spent for the year.

*Please note that my costs will not include much for food. I use coupons and hunt for specials on food online. I rotate our dogs food continually and also supplement with raw bones and home-cooked meals for them, so there is minimal actual dog food expense for us.*

January: $7

February: $11

March: $0

April: $32

May: $11

June:$50

July: $49

August: $20

September: $0

November: $50

December: $0

Total Year-End Cost for Two Chihuahua's is $230!

I can't wait until next year when I can keep closer track on everything and provide a more detailed (and accurate since we missed the beginning of the year) total.
